Here's one sure to ring familiar...The dough, the cheddar, the bacon(why am I hungry for a BACON CHEESBURGER now?)...
Our beloved ailment screws with us on many levels...One of mine is in managing $$$...Wreaks havoc in the marriage & can make U feel so down...Can't seem to hold on to any & have a hard time making more OF it...
It definitely does make an ADD life harder...

You talking to me? No kidding, to me, money has no value. Something could cost .00 or ,000. what's the dif? My kid knows this too, I'm like trying to decide whether to buy a blackberry phone or a pda. She says - Those are expensive, you ought to really think about that, but by the way the girls really need winter clothes - size 2 toddler. When you go through money like water - others really like to get involved. Beware my friend.

Money is tough - even without ADHD. But for us - the urges - ah those urges!! We hear and obey oh master of our disastrous lives!!
With meds I do better - but it's hard. I'm going to try a budgeting course (the psych recommended it - they give them out to bankrupt people, gambling addicts, etc.) at the local community college. It might work now that I have that slim grip on life by the toenails.
Countrygirl - go for the pda! The palmpilots are coming out dirt cheap - and unless you need to be able to text people all the time (isn't that just chic right now?) you get all the scheduling and notes you'll ever need.
I'm like you with money - I tend to think of myself as an ADHD rainman "a car? a million dollars definitely a million dollars - fly quantas definitely fly quantas"

Money Management?
I thought the topic was
Honey Management.
No help either way,
btw.
remember - the blackberry charges a fee for every text message you send. Why not simplify - type them out in word for PDA - then transfer when you get home? Maybe I'm old fashioned - but do you need to email all the time? Handy - but you pay the price.
A PDA will allow you to schedule, to jot down ideas, and to keep lists. It's way cheaper and I think it's what you intended to get to serve your needs right?
I mean - get what you like but think about what you truly want. And- ask your provider what it will be per message. Most charge when it comes in too - and now they are getting spam when you get near one of the transponders. Tricky spammers!
muy interesante idea - Glen - I shall ponder that deeply. DH has a PDA and BB - Maype try them out to see which one works better for me?Mui Bueno! Great idea!
I always say try before you buy. Try both - get to know the apps. In PDAs the applications make the sale. You need word processing, calendar, and of course the games!
The blackberry is limited in programs right now - so make sure you enjoy the applications that are included.
Check em out - let me know what you decide!
CG, wet blanket time! Do you really need either or do you just want a new toy and have rationalized how having one (or the other) can really help w/ money managment? I ask because that's the kind of thing I'd do. Or should I say, "used" to do since I've recently "reformed" (knock on wood!)
I wanted to get MS Money to help me better manage my money but realized I couldn't really afford it, either. I was feeling like a good girl by not giving into the rationalization when I realized I could download it free for 90 days from Microsoft. That would give me enough time to get together the money I needed to buy it as well as see which version I actually did need. (Couldn't tell well enough from the descriptions.)
I've turned using Money into a game so using it is turning out to actually be fun! I'm not suggesting that this is your solution, just that it might work as a general strategy to hold off spending money as a way to manage it and let your creative brain "background" to figure out a real solution for you. (Oh, great, one of the cats is barfing all over the rug. Always something!)
sachetm38640.2666898148CG, I bought a special watch--a Timex--that interfaced with Outlook. It had alarms, to do list, contact list included. Was around 0 back then (95?)--a LOT cheaper than a PDA and being a watch--harder to lose. Not sure if they still make it but you could check. Sounds like it might better fit your needs.and major sleep deprivation, too, I see. I'ts 03:50 there![QUOTE=Davidornado]and major sleep deprivation, too, I see. I'ts 03:50 there!
go keep your dh company,
sleepyhead!

Too funny! My eyes are tired and I read "sleep" as "sheep" all the way through. Thought "dh" was a special friend or something!
Of course, that substitution, has nothing to do w/ money management, but then that wouldn't be terribly strange for this board!
I'm still laughing at myself!

Money is hard for me to manage also. I pay late and I forget to pay. I am online with my bank and it helps to pay bills quickly. I also put them on auto pay when I can. That helps A LOT!
I like Anni also do online banking, but its hardly fool proof. I still forget bills all the time. Credits are constantly on my tail :( It's strange, but once I pay the bills, I can feel like for the next 60 days instead of 30 that they're paid...And miss a month thinking I'm caught up. I don't know why I do that but it happens alot.
It's not the fact that I have a hard time Managing it, It's that I have a hard time managing a LACK of it!!! I just need to MAKE more money!
Poverty Sucks...
I have all my bills on an auto pay shcedule. My bank even cuts a check for my rent every month! It doesn't cost any extra and I don't have to worry about what day of the month it is anymore.
Paying my bills is never the problem, it's finding money to put in the bank to cover the checks, no matter who wrote them!!!
