Well, I'm going offa what they did to me...

NOT that I had a brastrap or ponies...

I was rarely the evil instigator, often the empath...

But I was large, also, so I only got bullied twice, until an adult. Then they took me to court, or fired me...

I'm am trying to cut the habit, it is time to go to bed.  But, I'm sure I'll be on to check again during my nightly bathroom breaks at 1 or 3 in the am.!!

See ya.

EASY,JUST read my posts only and bypass the rest. OMG !!!!!i'M TURNING INTO A DAVIE

Help!!!

I can't get off this site!!

I go to it every day and read posts about ADHD!!!

I need help!!!

What should I do???

dont have any advice for you as i am the same way......sorry i have no advice for you but i am also addicted...if i am not on everyday it takes me forever to go back and read the posts i missed which i still obviously miss some..

I have been doing the same thing for this past week since I joined.  I can't get away either.  I got up 15 min ago and said, I'm done for the night, but here I am again!  I'm with you!!!

oh man, same here!!!  I keep coming back even though I have a research paper to write!!  I am addicted to an internet site!

This weekend seems a little slow, don't you think?  Last week people were posting like crazy!  We need a new topic, but I'm not on meds yet, so I've got nothing to say in this area of the website.

I had to get off the site too..I have so much work to do and it's all computer and I wasn't working at home as much and I even missed a few workouts  (that's when I knew I was in trouble)....plus I should be outside when I'm not  work'n just for the fresh air  So, I gave myself 2 weeks to stay off. I don' t even get home till 8/9 at night on weekdays, I can't believe how fast things like chores piled up and if you want to have a social life, well, when the heck do you read and post??? I gave myself the okay to come on tonight as I'm off for 31/2 days..I still work at home though and I hate being on the computer the entire day...sucks the soul out of you

Subject Topic: how can I stop hyperfocusing on this site

You can't. It's medicating you...

Perhaps we should agree to settle on half-right?  After all, 'trolling' seems to be defined as pulling a line with bait, not casting a net as in trawling or dragging LOL -  not that I'd heard 'trolling' used but then again I'm not that up on fishing.

Won't be around later, will catch up another time.  Sleep well.

Old sea dogs is more often used here than old sea salts.  I know, a useless bit of info.

curus38645.4525810185hmm curus - I always heard it from the old salts and assumed they were saying trolling - but trawling/trolling? You are probably right - I never checked the spelling and definition together.  LOL - perhaps another ADHD moment - but I'm gonna go check on it later - after a nice nap.

Aha - couldn't let this die before bed! I wuz RIGHT!!

no offence curus - you very well could have been.

., trolled, troll·ing, trolls.

v.tr.

To fish for by trailing a baited line from behind a slowly moving boat. To fish in by trailing a baited line: troll the lake for bass. To trail (a baited line) in fishing. Slang. To patrol (an area) in search for someone or something: “[Criminals] troll bus stations for young runaways” (Pete Axthelm). Music. To sing in succession the parts of (a round, for example). To sing heartily: troll a carol. To roll or revolve.

v.intr.

To fish by trailing a line, as from a moving boat. To wander about; ramble. Slang. To patrol an area in search for someone or something. Music. To sing heartily or gaily. To roll or spin around.

You might be right, just that I never heard it - it could be a colloquialism (?spelling) as well, or different countries using different words.  My b/f is a sailor, I'll ask him if he ever heard of it later.   Have a good nap.

Must  have posted about  the same time - I can see you've found the answer and you're right  LOL. :-)

For people who have seen how devastating the results of the 'negative side' of medication can be, that does tend to be their main concern with regard to why they post.   People don't do it for the fun of it either - it isn't pleasant being insulted in response - they do it because they want to try to prevent other people from experiencing it the hard way.  That is, to answer a few other comments,  the "agenda" - to try to warn/protect others.

Ah, Fallen - you used that "T" word as a verb instead of noun - and people just saw the noun version.  Who would know it - unless you're an old fart like some of us - or a sailor.

Trolling - as a verb - is a fisherman's term - to spread a wide net across a fishing area looking for pretty much anything wriggling to catch.  It's often used to define when someone is doing something in order to spread effort widely in hopes to get even a small return.  Spammers and telemarketers are common trollers - they try millions upon millions of potential customers in order to get a small number of them to bite.

Well - class dismissed!
I didn't know netting or trawling was also called trolling.   Is that right, or are you making it up?

curus38645.4304976852Hey, thanks. So what's your opinion of online wife finding? Your's didn't succeed, but as an industry professional, what's the current thinking? I 've noticed a proliferation of dating services, and now some are advertsing offline, like on TV.

You appear to have an inflated opinion of how much hostility there is on this site.  In reality, its only a group of you who are hostile and a group of you who repeatedly try to "ask"  people out of here who post the negative information about drugs.  You are not privy to pm's and its very arrogant to assume that everyone feels as you do.

I'm neither stupid nor out to cause trouble as I expect you may well be aware, but what you don't yet understand is that I will not be intimidated by a small crowd of what reminds me of an adult version of a bunch of school bullies very determined to maintain their relative position and control within the education system.

Enjoy your name calling activities - but please don't expect any further responses to your posts.  I learned from one of the sayings that seems very popular amongst your small crowd:   "Don't Feed the Trolls" and this is why I respond to so few of the very many baiting, insulting and discrediting posts - which undoubtedly includes your own.
Curus, I apologize. You're a zealot. Your justification doesnt reflect the reality. I speak for myself, no one else. If others have called you a troll previously then perhaps you should reflect on your behavior.

Are you suggesting I have control in any system? Did you assume that perhaps I post here because of a child? Keep posting, you make me giggle.

Actually I work for an online 'dating' site now, which is where most of my thinking comes from. More correctly: I work for a relationship site that focuses mainly on hookups, but work alongside many people who work for the names that most people will have heard of.

Online relationships generate a great deal of paradox that are better discussed over beer when there's some time to explain the varied nuances that are both gained and lost.

Offline interaction has it's own complications but tends to somewhat limit what I think of as self projection (putting your own emotional spin on the emotionless content generated by others) and the ability to distort ones personality.

In general I've found that individuals imprint their own expectations onto forums such as this, and that the things which that forum gives that person are magnified by it's silence ------ hmmmm so if you want to make someone laugh you take the LOLs as the responder laughing and thinking that it was as funny as you did (or whatever) whereas it may have just caused a smile and LOL response (if that makes any sort of sense whatsoever). Like I said, very tough to sum up in a short paragraph.

And yes, part of my job is to develop, maintain and predict these sorts of communities and their requirements.

They because Im not assuming your gender.

Yes, you're a troll. Your internal justifications for posting on the medication forum does not change the fact that you're a troll. People have mentioned several times that the goal of this forum is to discuss medications - not their moral or ethical nature - points which you have posted several times. What causes your denial? simply being arrogant enough to believe that you're in possession of information that might convert someone to YOUR way of thinking?

Most people, when offering unsolicited advice and met with hostility will withdraw, for they have nothing to prove and were only there to geniunely offer help. you have repeatedly been asked, along with others, to refrain from posting negative posts on this fourm and yet have continued to do so. Your weak excuses that you are bringing awareness to the issue means you are either very stupid, which I do not believe to be the case, or simply out to cause trouble.

I do not believe that you're out to save or educate anyone, just someone trying hard to justify their own prejudices. It's very sad, and I feel very sorry for you.

I just ran into this posting - and thought I should help you if I can.

This forum is KILLING YOUR KIDS!!!

Studies have shown that viewing this forum - even for a short period of time can cause your children lumpy stool, bad breath, heart palpitations, green runny discharge and dyspepsia!  God forbid you actually POST here!!

For the parents of children who come here - I recommend against it under any circumstances.  Why - one man I spoke to recently told me that after visiting this site - his 2 year old son actually packed his teddy in a suitcase and moved to Albequerke!! Since he was too short to reach the brakes he naturally crashed his father's car and died a tragic death.

Don't let this happen to you and your loved ones!!

Oh, I practice what I preach - I am typing this to you blindfolded and being assisted by deaf Afghani nuns.

Thank you and God bless

Glen you are right.  This is a site for brainwashing individuals - since I've been a member I cannot concentrate on of my  own work!!  I never had that problem before!!  I don't know what the next detrimental thing is going to be - I may actually get angry.

I've struggled with various addictions my entire life, many related to compulsive use of technology (Im addicted to being a geek). While my response sounded flippant it is also meant exactly as it sounds.

Stop using the site for a week, if you can't then you have a problem and should deal with it as such.

Read a book, interact with your family, blow off steam masturbating furiously - do anything OTHER than trolling this forum.

And on that subject, I have machines to fix.

GlenW

LOL!  Are you turning into a troll? - no - not you!!  You are one of our greatest supports!!  Say it isn't so!!!

I've found that this is part of my life.

Do you realize how many endorphins, dolphins, and dopamines are released in here?

FREE the Captives!!! OR ELSE

This is why ADHDers so are ADDicted to this sight...
The 100+ posts a day kinda gave me that impression David.

No judgement from me. I've played the 'tee hee im addicted' game myself, eventually I realized that I was merely trading reality for an illusion, but then I was online from dawn til way after dusk 24/7.

Now I only go online when I'm working and spend the rest of my time doing real things.

Being online did teach me how to have some sort of social skills rather than being the social retard I used to be.

So, these people aren't part of life? My life? Prick on them, do they not bleed?

What brings you here, my son? How long has it been since your last confession?

Hmm, why do people play games? To feel good? So that's bad? I guess the NFL's got it all wrong then. Let's be serious, now, no games...

Oh, I get it! This isn't a real thing! It's sure real to me?

I never was a social retard, more like a magnet. Musta been the money, eh? hehe. Well in that case, I'm honoring my social skills... I've known people who played the "huh, I'm a nerd?" game, which is great! They came up with some great crackers 'n' hackers...I applaud their creativity, mostly. Some viral niussances are a little, uh, shall we say, life like?
Wasn't that a movie? So long as when I get a NEW IMPROVED LIFE,, I am adhd FREE...

But seriously... your stuck on this site and you can't leave until your eyes fall out and you start seeing your fingers type things out on a piece of paper next to a pen...

A troll (singular) someone who posts stuff for a reaction, usually inflamatory posts but swears its not intentional : see curus posts. Usually designed to suck you into an argument for no decent reason whatsoever (if curus was not a troll they would post under the alternative forum rather than trying to convince/inflame people in the medication forum).

I misused trolling earlier because I have ADD and use the wrong goddamn words sometimes:)
As for forums being real. That's a philosophical question for which each answer will be different. I believe there are degrees of reality and online interaction rates pretty low on the reality scale -  but to explain that takes far more energy and time than I have currently. Forums are like relationships based on sending postcards to each other.

I base my opinions on 20 years in various communities, building several successful ones myself, my best friend being someone I initially met online and the fact that I moved to the US because I met my now ex-wife in an online community. I've also spent 12 years studying the subject from both a sociological and psychological perspective.

Your mileage may vary.
