Possible improvement on Straterra | ADHD Information

Hello Forum Friends,

I wanted to report that I may be experiencing some improvement in focus/attention after 2 weeks on Straterra.  i am now up to 60mgs.

I had four chapters to read this weekend between two classes.  My intention was to break up the reading over the four days between Friday and Monday.  You know how ADDers typically have to manage their reading assignments.  I didn't have time to read on Friday so I started today, Saturday while at work.  I am all finished with all four chapters.

My focus was dead on.  i was interupted quite often as one might expect at work, but ws able to go right back to the text and did not get sleepy at all.  I feel as if I have retained more of the information and I feel more alert.  Now I don't have anything else to do during the downtime at work for the rest of the weekend.

This is great but wierd.

ChiefB,  That is really encouraging news.  I hope it continues and gets better.  I know you'll keep us updated.  -Gettingagrip-Awesome news!!  So what did you do with the rest of your downtime then?

I'm glad to here you have had good success with stratera.  I've been on Stratera for about 10 weeks now and it's been quite a struggle getting used to the medication.  I worked up to 80mg for 2 weeks and I too was able to focus.  I couldn't believe what I was missing my whole life(I'm 36).  I took the med. before bed and by dinner the next day I felt terrible emotionally and physically.  I suffered through it for about 6 additional weeks and went back for a follow up.  After describing the experience to my doc. he changed it to 60mg in the morning and 40mg at dinner and also put me on 25mg of Seroquel to get me to sleep through the night(I was getting up at 3am and tosing and turning until I got up); also, lots of really bad nightmares.  I've been doing this combination for about a week and I feel a lot better emotionally and physically.  I can focus better but certainly not as well as when I first started taking Straterra.  I'm probably going to have to come off the med. b/c my BP is about 140/85 with a pulse of about 90(too high for me).  I'm glad for the experience and getting a glimps of what it's like to be able to focus...On to Aderall..Wish me luck.

I was able to socialize with folks at work and I even went to bed as soon as I got home.  I slept well too. That's great to hear ChiefB, I'm also taking strattera and it has also done the same thigns for me. People sometimes wonder if I'm the same person because I never used to get anything done before. heh

I really am reaing with more clarity and focus.  I still leave the house and have to come back to get things like books, money, lunch etc.

today I started on my max dosage at 80mg.  So far I have had no headache or other ill effects.  Dry mouth is more noticable but not enough of a problem to cause concern.
