Focalin, free trials, motivation | ADHD Information
Anybody tried Focalin? I take Concerta now, but have a script for
Focalin and am curious about anybody else's experiences. I change
meds periodically -- I find that all the stimulants have their own
merits, and switching to a new one sometimes helps with my
motivation. I am so glad to have a pdoc that's entirely open to
that. Does everybody know to ask their docs for free trials, by
the way? All of the name brands have first month free coupons.
Speaking of motivation -- uggh. I have none today. I called in
sick -- it didn't seem remotely possible to even dress for work.
I feel so sluggish that it reminds me of my pre-medicated days. I
am struck by the fact that it's an unusual feeling nowadays, but my
life used to be constricted by this painfully heavy brain fog, every
day. I don't know how I made it through. I still have days
like that, but they are few and far between. I am so grateful for
the miracles of modern chemistry.
Im taking focalin after getting fatigued on ritalin and
.....uneffective with adderall (motivated but unfocused and pretty
destructive).
1. Focalin is pretty clean for me, no major side effects compared to the Adderall/Ritalin.
2. much more focused, but I'm still tweaking the dosages.
3. Seems far more sensitive to dietary balance than the adderall - if I
eat the wrong things I can put myself into a pretty anxious state as it
wears off.
4. Haven't noticed any major issues with various executive functions.
im not compelled to do anything. I have overfocused on occasion with it
but I put that down to simple adjustment of mental effort now I'm
medicated.
Minor side effect for me is a lack of appetite, but I never really paid attention to food before I started taking medication.
Overall Im feeling good about it, but I am still on the first month.
Focalin worked for me for about 1 week. I was on ritalin for 2 m it made me get agged real easy. I was a jerk!! Focalin did nothing I was on max does of 20 mg. Then I started taking 40 too see if that would help. It did nothing I was out of control and could get nothing done @ work. Now I am concerta It works good for work. However when I get home I am jerky. I just wanna chill out and do nothing. I am on 72 mg. If I take less I am out of control. My dr will not let me try adderall. When I do not take it on the weekends I am cool and not jerky at all I am really sweet.None that I've noticed so far.
A side effect of ADD is that my wife gets mad at me which seems to inhibit her sexual desire (for me), if that helps

What, if any, are the sexual side effects?
is focalin that stuff they gave to Bart Simpson?
Some people have posted about that before; apparently Bart took "Focusin."
Wordwoman38644.7268287037Update -- on day 2 I'm liking the Focalin, though I think maybe
Concerta feels a little more smooth and evenly distributed throughout
the day. The Focalin kicks in strong in the morning and seems to
noticeably wear off. But I feel the change is good -- I
tend to get too acclimated to whatever I'm taking, so I like shaking my
system up a little by switching stimulants once a year or so.
