Anyone w/ AD(H)D and MS or fibromyalgia? | ADHD Information

Satch, my wife has both ADHD and Fibromyalgia. She doesnt accept the ADD diagnosis fully though.

Although I haven't gotten an "official" diagnosis of ADD, no doubt in my mind that I am--classic. I may also have MS (multiple sclerosis). Have to wait for a definitive diagnosis on that. Prieviously, the docs thought my MS-like symptoms were fibromyalgia and I know a few people have been diagnosed with that. Symptoms are really similar between fibro and MS. In fact, there's probably as much confusion here as there is between bi-polar and AD(H)D.

I can imagine how and why there may be a correlation between the two and wondered if anyone else (especially you 40+ folks) have been diagnosed with both--either AD(H)D and fibromyalgia or AD(H)D and MS?

BTW, the loudness of the MRI for the brain scan was like torture! But then it likely would be worse for someone with AD(H)D as we seem especially sensitive to sensory stimuli. If you're AD(H)D and ever have to have a brain MRI, buy the best (non-metallic) ear plugs you can find and take them with you!

sachetm38643.5398611111Nope but not test for these either. Had read these 3 can go together.

Hey Satch,

Wow. Good luck with that. I've been in MRI's for back scans, and had to be emergency evac'd b/c I was so tightophobic I freaked! So next time they sedated me, completely. No need for ear plugs! What's that ringing in my ears?

Pardon my ignorance, but just what are MS and Fibromyalgia? What may they have related to ADD/ADHD?

Here's the closest I've seen to a fibre problem:

And that was on a good hair day...

my mum's been dx'ed w/ fibro. i suspect myself, or fear it anyway. MS too, as i've written on other threads, i have these twitches, and indistinct pains with no obvious cause.

my hand jerks when i write sometimes. i go to grab things, and either can't grab them, or just fumble and drop things. i knock things when reaching, like reaching for a glass, my arm jerks and knocks it over.

i have more indistinct pain when my mood is low, so i always thought it was part of depression.

Thanks, guys. Anyone else?

(BTW, Davidornado, fibromyalgia is a disorder of muscle and connective tissue that causes inflammation and pain and MS [multiple sclerosis] is a disorder of the nerves that affect their ability to function properly and communicate with the rest of the body--especially the muscles. See why the symptoms would be similar?)
