Headaches? | ADHD Information

I get headaches from heck on the weekends.. why? because I don't eat at the same times as I do during the week. It all has to do with foods for me. Maybe it is the same for you. During the week, I eat at 6:30 am, not much, but I am on my way to work, then we have our 15 minute break at 10:00 , I eat my lunch then, and I nibble on some granola at noon and 3:00. and then dinner at around 5:30-7:00 pm. And I have no headaches during the week. I figured it out as I was thinking why the meds are not giving me headaches during the week. it was simple, the difference was my eating pattern.

Little background.

I was diaognosed with ADHD in December of 2004.  I had been taking Adderall XR 30mg. Had been up until today. My dr. put me on same but now i take them 2x a day. 30mg at 5 in the morning and 30 mg at 12. So I started that today, but has anyone gotten such a headache that won't go away after upping the dosage? I have chronic neck pain but its been undercontrol for a few months. But the past 2 hours its been back but the headache is worse. Not as bad as i've had before of course.  Do you think its just b/c of the change? My brain is trying to rationalize the extra medz. Anyone else? Did it go away?

Thanks!

no LP!! Caffeine GOOD! Stopping Caffeine BAD! Fire BAD ARRRR!!

Sorry - having flashback there.

Lady peace get at Walmart Jointriteus roll on works great and Natural also. You also can take Joint supplements. These both help.

Any other side effects, such as shaking fingers when arm is outstretched?

If not, most likely not the Adderall.

No shaking.

I think its just b/c of my neck and shoulder pain i've had for years. What are the odds the pain starts back up the day I start the new dose? I guess it was undwanted odds in my favor.

You should check with your MD on the pain.  These meds do make the smooth muscles contract in the body - and that includes the blood vessels.  Some can have migraines and neck pain from the restriction of blood flow - it will be a pattern with taking the meds you should be able to see.

Did you cut off coffee when starting the meds?  If you did - this could be caffeine withdrawl - as it causes headaches and general muscle aches.  I hear that a lot when people start as they don't want the coffee to interefere with the meds.  If it's the coffee then you should see it go away soon.

Do check on it though - pain is never a good thing and it's always best to follow up on these things.

I am on clonidine to ease meaness, but it is also for hypertension and reduces my headaches by reducing constrictions in the blood supply. TELL your DR, and he can answer the questions, headaches CAN BE MAJOR problems. and yes I got headaches while on adderall generic... behind the eye and hurt like heck for hours.. best of luck bugzappers38648.7287962963I've been taking stimulants for 8 years, and only once had a headache that I remember. It's Ritalin, but at the AD/HD doses, you shouldn't see any muscular reactions unless it's overdosed. Shaking fingers on an outstretched arm is one indication. Increased bp is another, so take a reading everytime you can, until you're comfortable with the med's reaction in your own body.

Thanks guys.

It seems to have gone away.  It was most likely b/c of the stopping of dr. pepper's, excedrine (caffiene), and no doz. Caffiene bad.
