First hand experience is much better in my opinion so thank you for the help. I am going to call the Doc in the morning and ask him. I have not started the Adderall XR tablets yet so I could very easily make a change right now.

Well if you take 20 mgs of Adderall that would be close to the dosage of 36 mgs of Concerta. Concerta has a slower take off...it is just a much smoother drug, because its release system is like a IV drip you get 20% the first hour or so then the rest....is a slow drip for the other 10 or so hours.....Just keeps you more even so you don't have those peaks and valleys.....I personally like it. If you start off on the Concerta 36 mgs you can always go up later to 54 or 72 mgs.

Others say Adderall is awesome......Not sure what to say, but, buddy go for it, if you felt so much better on the generic Adderall. You could always still do the generic but, you would have to give yourself 2nd dosages and such thru out the day. If you read the board, some people say, the generic is not as strong as the regular Adderall.

Plus, it is recommended that if you have anytype of mood disorder you are suppose to take something like a low dose mood stabilizer with the stimulant.

So you will not cycle......

Same goes with anti-depressants.....Do not take Paxil if you are unsure of family history of mood disorders. This drug is linked to inducing bi-polar in people that didn't know they were at risk. I had a neighbor that took Paxil for 3 days, and went into a cycle. Before Paxil you couldn't of asked for a better person, after Paxil, if that was my first time of meeting her, I would have hated her. She is all better now, that she is on the correct therapy for her condition.

A life saver, we still have moments, but not like before. My last straw was when he got so mad on to high of a dose of Adderall XR 30mg, he picked up a coffee table to throw at me. He never acted like this before. We did 30 days on the Trileptal and after that added in a low dose stim, concerta 27mgs. 100% better, then before. Concerta is a softer med for the way it is released, over 10 to 12 hours. Adderall XR is a two dose system, which releases faster, twice a day. For my son Adderall was like slapping him in the face with the drug, and then at the end of the day coming off he was a animal.

Well I have to rely on my Dr. that decided on this route. My wife is aware of what I am on and we have already discussed it. As stated before I fully believe that the mood issues that I have are directly related to the ADHD issues that I have. So in correcting those issues my Dr. and myslef are hoping that the other issues will be allieviated as well.

Just another little note, Do you think 20 mgs of Adderall XR may be to much to start off with. Did you know that Adderall is actually twice as potent as reg. ritalin. So you are actually going to start out with 40 mgs of Ritalin. The drug really doesn't go by weight.

Maybe you should look at 10 or 15 mgs so your body can adjust to the medication and will help discourage any side effects and then go up from there.

I have been around the block trying to figure out what is best for my situation. About 6 months ago some of my issues started to get much worse. My motivation was down significantly and I was sleeping way to much and not feeling any better for it. I did some sleep testing and showed no abnormal signs. My regular Dr. put me on what I would come to learn just recently was generic Adderall. I had a 30 day supply of 10mg single release pills. It made things so much better for me the only issue was that by the afternoon I was back to my old self again.
