I'm writing this after visiting the posts anonymously for awhile, because I feel it is my responsibility to reach out to all the posters. You have helped me, and my family tremendously. I have learned what I needed to avoid, and what I felt comfortable in discussing with my son's doctors. I changed fromallowing his pediatrician to medicate him, to getting a full range of tests from a pediatric neurologist, who along with the psychological eval, concurred with the diagnosis of ADHD, inattentive type; comorbid disorders of OCD, and ODD. It has been 3 0r 4 years since we started trying different meds, before that, it was the natural or holistic approach. So this is in appreciation to ALL OF US WHO KNOW how real ADD/ADHD is.
Our children will grow and thrive and know they are loved.
BY US.
WE LISTENED, AND WE RESPONDED.
AND NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY.
NO SO CALLED DO-GOODERS
OR SAVERS OF THE WORLD.
LET THEM SAVE THEMSELVES.
We have us.
I found that the pediatrician was the worse treatment we have ever gotten.
I commend you.....for being there for your child......at whatever the cost.....
thanks, but truly I would be lost without this site. My son is now 12 years old and on Concerta 36 mg once in the morning-so far so good. Last year we had a Section 504 (?) meeting with his teachers and put a plan in place to help him in his new school. This year, we haven't had to do that yet. All this stuff, I read about here.
louismom - thanks for the heads up!! Glad you are coming up here loud and proud!
I was a son of a loving mom and though we didn't know I had ADHD - there were the same issues and she did everything in her power to make life wonderful. Mission accomplished!
Have no fear - the word of options for our children won't be silenced. Now they are calling me "pro ADHD" - which is like calling a hearing impaired advocate "pro deaf". Bah. I'm louder, nastier, smarter and far more word worthy than any of them - hell all of them put together!
Glad you are here - and take it from the 38 year old ADHD guy who was once where your son is now - life can be wonderful for us!!! With meds at his age - probably will be better!
I hope more feel like this twords us, and continue posting.I so appreciate this poster.
Three Cheers For Louies' Mom!
