Long term drug effects | ADHD Information

They have not been scared off, they are out getting ahead in life, unlike the three stooges we have,,, reality, realitybitesbalanced, and adhdisboguswhenrealitybites.

in other words we have dr fine dr howard and dr fine...

And they are just in denial of a recent adhd diagnosis.

Once they get the meds fully integrated into their systems, they will mellow out and not be so annoying...

Any way, If you don't trust the meds or your dr. , get another opinion.

We can tell you that adderall has been around since the 80's for adhd

before that it was the 1970's diet aid, known as orbitrol.. that is all I know...

Adderall is manufactured by Catalytica Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Greenville, North Carolina and is distributed by Shire.

It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Adderall with Acetazolamide, Antihistamines, norepinephrine, propoxyphene, seizure medications

Tell your doctor if you take any of these products: fruit juices, ascorbic acid, sodium bicarbonate, anti-ulcer medicine, antacids, methenamine, and acetazolamide.

it can cause psychosis and has been controversial in those cases, but it happens maybe to 3 in 1million. Generally because of overdose, or lack of monitoring dosage given to a patient leading to an accidental prescribed overdose.

Which is why I will TELL YOU TO GET A COMPLETE AND THOROUGH EXAM, from a nuro and a dr. And tell them things you feel changing and write them down to help you remember to tell the dr.

Adderall is very safe - and been for sale worldwide since at least 1987.  The Canadian government banned adderall for sale here because of reports of 20 deaths worldwide (14 kids 6 adults).  Almost every one of the deaths were not caused by anything other than a pre-existing defect in the patient's hearts- and most were during vigorous exercise.  So determining your heart is fine before using it is always the best advice.

A good fact area is http://add.about.com/od/medications/a/updateadderall.htm - a very impartial information center.  You'll get pretty much any info you could ask for there.  I hope that helps.

Yes - this is web info - but since the actual long-term users of Adderall have been seemingly scared off by all the pro/anti med talk - this seems appropriate to read up on the pros and cons from a reliable source.

I have used dexedrine for a year now - with no long term effects other than it keeps my ADHD from getting in the way of my life.

People, this person is seeking real life answers.  Those with first hand knowledge please reply.  She posted this question under another thread but it got lost in all the pro/anti drug babble.  Someone please assist her with real life info, not things gleened from a box or website.

"So I'm new on this board. I tried to get through this thread at first but after the first 3 pages found it useless.  So i've skimmed.  But seriously is there any useful information in any of this? Other than the person with the little boy on dexamphatemine and possible depression?

"Does anyone know how long Adderall has been out? or anything similar? I am 23 and started taking adderall XR in december.  But I want to know if anyone knows of someone who has been taking adderall for years. And i mean a long time.  How is their health now? Still good? No heart problems with the amphetamine based medication? Anyone? thanks"

Best as I can find on short notice, there was an adderall generic approved by the FDA in 2003. If off patent then, subtract 17 years, add a few for non-use development, and we're looking at approximately 15 years at least of use for it's active ingredients in use for AD/HD treatment.

A little more research in the FDA website will reveal more detail. Here's the link:
