Adderall info from the manufacturer. | ADHD Information

That IS quite the coincidence - I agree shakespeare!!

Not to mention the choice of names - balanced (nowhere NEAR balanced), and reality (who is so far off the deep end has no idea what reality IS!).  Hmmmm..

Either way - they both sling the same ridiculous arguments.

Bringing SSRIs up constantly in a forum for ADHD is such a obtuse way to try and blind people to the fact they have no facts to back their tirades up with.

They think us ignorant - too stupid to read a label on a medication and make an informed decision.

They think that dependence is the same as addiction.  They think that abusing a med is the same as taking the prescribed amount.  They think that by us posting replies to their posts that they are clever.  All wrong - so wrong.

Any med abused can kill.  Any warning ignored can lead to harm.  A ladder that posts a warning not to stand on the top rung - and the person does anyway - these guys would tell us that ladders are evil as they lead to deaths.  The logic is so flawed that it does not belong here.

Balanced, reality - two things this guy really could use but I'm  not holding my breath.
GlenW, I was thinking exactly the same thing! If someone drives 150 mph on the highway weaving in and out of traffic, does it then follow that the car is at fault when the driver is killed in the ensuing accident?
Wait, I thought all us adhders drove that fast so when I crash, my family can blame adderall and clonidine
bugzappers38648.7344328704GlenW, I was thinking exactly the same thing! If someone drives 150 mph on the highway weaving in and out of traffic, does it then follow that the car is at fault when the driver is killed in the ensuing accident? In fact, I was so curious I went back and checked. According to BALANCED's profile, he last visited this forum on 10/17, the day Reality first posted. I was thinking, would reality tell the truth and stop lying about dead sons and tell us that SHIRE is the manufacturer of adderall..

Otherwise I will have to stop taking all my pills and turn scientologist on ya

Does anyone listen to dr demento,, I remember marvin the paranoid android,,, reality sounds like he is a new incarnation. Probably a kid or 20 something alkie with someone telling him to use this and this and this and keep, posting, we need you to get out the word that adhd is this or that... thank you.
bugzappers38648.7333680556I see... could this be a reincarnation? There are too many coincidences for me to dismiss. This new alter-ego is no less antagonistic.and does not seem to think for him/herself.I can say confidently that I believe that BALANCED was banned on the 17th and then created a new account the same day to continue spewing his venom. Unfortunate, since I don't think he could find a less receptive forum.I believe Balanced was banned.  He was turned in to people because of his harrassing nature.

Important Safety Information
ADDERALL XR was generally well tolerated in clinical
studies. The most common side effects in studies
included: children—decreased appetite, difficulty
falling asleep, stomachache, and emotional lability;
adolescents—loss of appetite, difficulty falling
asleep, stomachache, and weight loss; adults—dry
mouth, loss of appetite, difficulty falling asleep,
headache, and weight loss.

ADDERALL XR may not be right for everyone. Patients
should speak with their doctor if they have a history
of high blood pressure or any heart conditions,
glaucoma, thyroid problems, emotional instability,
mental illness, or a known allergy to this type of
medication. Abuse of amphetamines may lead to
dependence. Misuse of amphetamines may cause sudden
death and serious cardiovascular adverse events. These
events have also been reported rarely with amphetamine
use.

If you are currently taking or have recently taken a
type of antidepressant called a MAO inhibitor or have
a pre-existing structural heart abnormality, you
should not take ADDERALL XR. There is a potential for
worsening of motion or verbal tics and Tourette's
syndrome. A patient should report any new
psychological symptoms to his or her physician.

..."Abuse of amphetamines may lead to dependence. "

THAT MEANS THE MANUFACTURER IS WARNING YOU THAT IT IS ADDICTIVE !

... "Misuse of amphetamines may cause sudden death and serious cardiovascular adverse events."

THAT MEANS THAT IF YOU TAKE TOO MUCH, IT MAY CAUSE A HEART ATTACK AND YOU MAY DIE !

Please take note of the operative part of that warning... ABUSE. Have you anything to say to those who take amphetamine based products therapeutically, as directed?

And please note also that there is a clinical difference between addiction and dependence. Addiction implies drug seeking behavior, increasing dose for purposes beyond clinical benefit, and of course abusive use of the substance.

Dependence, on the other hand, is simply a state in which the body becomes accustomed to the presence of a substance and some form of withdrawal ensues upon discontinuation of the drug. Diphenhydramine (benedryl) can cause dependence, but not addiction.

And by the way, your somewhat erroneous interpretations of the manufacturer's warning are offensive. If you intend to make a valid point, please refrain from speaking to your audience as though it has the cognitive skills of a two year old. Your clarification is quite unnecessary, as most of us display competence in the use of the English language and require no translation. shakespeare38648.3221064815Thanks anyway... I'm sure you'll try harder next time. You tell'em ShakesssTongueWith respect, may means just that. Not will, but may. Your arguments are worn out and are not applicable to the majority. And GSK has nothing to do with Adderall. That's Shire. Just FYI...

Reality,

It shocks me that you think we are all idiots!!

If you read the post on this forum you will see that is not the case.  I have yet to read a post that says  "dude, I take a blue pill.  what happens if i try a yellow one?"

Don't insult our intelligence.  Your quest to educate us will not ease psychological pain.

Does anyone else think that this person sounds remarkably like BALANCED? I believe he tossed out the same argument about Lily and LSD, and Paxil addiction. He has even used some of the same sentences "Oops, we lied" was a phrase used by BALANCED in another post. Coincidence?Come to think of it, where has BALANCED been? Reality first posted on 10/17. The last post BALANCED started that I can locate was posted on 10/16. shakespeare38648.3463194444

Shakespeare,

Are you working for GSK ?

Remember the good old days when SSRI antidepressants were "non addictive, non habitforming" ?

Remember Dr. Benbow from GSK claiming that Paxil was not addictive... you were just going through a " discontinuation syndrome".

Then came "oops sorry, we lied" and now everyone knows that the a/ds are addictive !

... MAY LEAD TO DEPENDENCE... means you may get hooked on them ! And MAY in drug company doublespeak means you probably WILL.

again, the info posted in the original post is not helpful since it is something all reasonable people do before coming to this forum.  The information simply bogs down the legitamate post of those seeking other people out for information and not just box labels and clinical studies that we are all privy to.

... and remember the ELI LILLY spokesperson in 1960 telling the media...

A THERAPEUTIC DOSE OF LSD IS GOOD FOR CHILDREN  !

sdw227,

It is amazing that you believe that everyone is researching the drugs they take !!!

It has been my personal experience ... over and over  again that people TRUST their "medical professional" to not put them in harm's way !

When I ask people what drug they're taking I usually get answers like... "I dunno, they're blue".

Or the guy that told me he doesn't take any antidepressants.... he only takes ZOLOFT.

Text in red my words

..."Abuse of amphetamines may lead to dependence. "

THAT MEANS THE MANUFACTURER IS WARNING YOU THAT IT IS ADDICTIVE !

no - that means if you take the meds against the manufacturer's directed ways to do so - you may become dependant. If it says to take 30mg daily and you take 120 - you are an idiot and on your way to dependance.  That's all it means.

... "Misuse of amphetamines may cause sudden death and serious cardiovascular adverse events."

THAT MEANS THAT IF YOU TAKE TOO MUCH, IT MAY CAUSE A HEART ATTACK AND YOU MAY DIE !

And- if you take 20x the dose of tylenol - your liver dies - are you going to attack tylenol too?  If I drink 70 liters of water I get hydrocephalitis - and will die - want to ban water?

Idiot.
hydrocephalitis???
 digging in aint we

I thought the tylenol reference was great.

Maybe if I ate too much Ice Cream,

I would die of ice cream itis or maybe ice cream headache or hypothermia...

I think these idiots blame mc donalds for hot coffee.

and they are scientologists and members of the ACLU.

but that is my opinion. hold them at bay, I am going to BED.
