ADHD Coaches/Specialists in MO? | ADHD Information
Anyone know of any good ADHD specialists or coaches in Missouri -
specifically in either Kansas City, Columbia, or St. Louis? I'm at a
loss - I'm currently seeing psych doctors through my university's
health center and they aren't doing anything but overseeing the med
prescrips, charging me for 15 min of their time and not caring if I
can focus all day or not. Our disabilities services office has someone
that kind of does time management coaching but he doesn't want to work
with me until I get my medication straightened out and I can focus all
day.......argh!! I just feel so stressed out - I'm in the middle of the
semester and my grades are starting to slip again and I feel like I
can't keep doing this forever - somethin's got to give!
I tried to email you but it looked like there was a problem, so thought Iwould post my email here instead....
Hi....I would be interested in working with you, if you are still
looking to take on people to coach. If you are, then here's some info
on my current situation....I'm having a really hard time finding anyone
at my University or in my area that specializes in working with ADHD
people. I'm a 26 year old female - just diagnosed back in August 2005
after a lifetime of struggle and 8 years of college(and probably one
more to go to actually get the degrees). I'm at a really bad point in
my semester because I'm really falling behind in 1 of my 2 courses -
it's a language course and it's really intense and I'm starting to
panic and the situation is getting worse....I know that I'm having
problems with my meds - I'm taking Adderall XR 30mg once a day and most
of the time I'm just in a fog - still can't concentrate, but it seems
it's getting worse day by day. At first the meds worked ok but didn't
last very long - so I was bumped up from 20mg to 25mg to 30mg and then
the doctor said that if I wanted to be able to focus in the evenings
for studying after work and class, that I should just take the meds
later in the day and sacrifice class time and work time for focus
later....well, now I don't even have focus time really at all. I have
an appointment in a week to discuss trying regular Adderall instead for
a while and see if that's any different. I don't like the doctor I've
got now - he's not really concerned with me and if I'm ok or
not....he's worried about me abusing my medication or selling it so
he's really cautious about adjusting doses.
I don't even have an ADHD specialist in the Disabilities Services
office - I went to my advisor there for help and basically he told me
he didn't think his advice would be worth while until I got my medicine
situation worked out.
As I'm sure you can tell, I'm very frustrated - I thought it would be
easier to get help once I was formally diagnosed but now I'm finding
I'm on my own. I'm sorry for the ranting.....if you can(or still want
to) help, just email me at nm46b@mizzou.edu Thank you for your time...

hello Christine,
where are you getting your training? Do you work with Mom's who have add somewhat under control but struggle with a son (14 years old with Adhd????) I need help but have been also intriqued with the coaching.... I think adolescence is a particularly crucial time to address some of these dynamics which can work against you if not channeled...
Hi everyone, I am recovering from spinal (viral) meningitis and haven't been on the computer very often, I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring any responses to my posts!!!!
I welcome the opportunity to ADHD coach free of charge as long as it is understood that I am new to coaching! I plan to give myself until Thanksgiving to recover and then plan to start my training again!
Have a great day,
Christine Tucker
I know you are week as my Daughter had that...headachs will go away...she is 12! I will contact you after the holidays...very nice of you...where did you train? How long?I am trained only in coaching people with ADHD. I do this by phone and e-mail all over the U.S.. Many people have had great results. Fees are very modest. Many parts of the country do not have any ADHD specific coaches. I can be e-mailed or contacted through www.addhelpcenter.comHope yopu feel better...drink plenty of fluids...
will talk after you rest...I want to look into the coaching field...
Thank you, the headache's are starting to go away but it is a very slow process!
I just began my training a few months ago with the American Coaching Association so I am very new, however, I believe in ADHD coaching and feel I will be able to assist others as I am learning!
I'm still not able to stare at the computer for long so I will continue the post in a week or so! Have a great rest of the week!
Hi Christine,
I have
been very interested in having a coach, even though I am in therapy. I
would like to try your coaching. Currently I am having a
particulary stressful time. I will continue this email tomorrow, and
will tell you more about me--diagnosed

ADHD/

BIPOLAR D/

DEPRESSION--I tend to think I only have ADHD and the other 2 are symptoms of lifelong ADHD, which has only been addressed in the last year. I am 49. on meds. I teach English to speakers of other languages. my boss

would love to fire me. those darn attendance rosters screw me up every month, among many other things.
Yours truly,
ANNE
I just finished my Bachelor's degree in August (only took me 10 years, ha ha ha) and I couldn't have done it without a coach! I am an ADHD coach in training and I am looking for a few individuals in which I can work with free of charge. Of course I am not going to be as good as Dr. Benson but I know what it's like to try and get through College and feel I could really help you even though I have just begun my coaches training! I live in PA but have unlimited long distance so if you are interested please reply to this email!

Hi
Nika, I do not think you are ranting. I do think you are expressing
extreme frustration and MAYBE 'fed-upness' and hopelessness. I feel
these things too often for comfort. In my opinion, you are at an
advantage over many us in that you found out about your adhd at a
relatively young age in adulthood. I was 48 when I found the probable
cause for my extreme sense of alienation, not fitting in and not making
or keeping friends. I am trying very hard now. It is exhausting.
About your pile of credits, I was thirty when I graduated from university with two college degrees, one of which was
a 5-year program. I had many credits from three schools spanning 12
years. I felt it was a necessity to use them. I had to take
advantage of this opportunity to receive that second, and
at-the-last-minute BA. I actually wrote up an interdiscilpinary degree
in art, theater and literature. My partner, ADHD, unwitttingly helped
me all those years.
Nika, I feel very alone

in my adhd whirlwind. I know people think I am

a space cadette, or just plan dumb, or inconsiderate. However, when I read these message boards, I feel

a bit better. Hang in there and take of yourself. You are worth it!!!
Yours truly, Anne
Go online and look up Dr. Benson, he is in KC, I just found him tonight, it sounds like he knows what hes doing, his speacialty is ADHD.
