Life coach | ADHD Information

yeah and make sure you don't get one you can trick. i am SUCH an expert
with my avoidance techniques --- i tried a life coach once but you know i
am so good with excuses, she would say 'now, why haven't you done
this?'   and i was always so plausible, so sweet with my responses that she
ended up saying "well, i can see that makes perfect sense, obviously you
didn't have a chance to do it - well, next week then."

so no good for me. i needed someone who could outsmart me (not hard
to do one would think - but as whatsherface said you get waht you pay
for... and mine was a little on the super-cheap side but very nice lady).

we got on well but of no use...

It's important that the coach has a good understanding of Attention Deficit Disorder.

Has anyone here ever worked with a life coach, and if so. what kinda cost? and did it help?

I've never worked with a life coach, but one of my co-workers sees one about once a month. I think he said it is roughly per session. He seems to enjoy it. He has ADD among other problems, and the coach helps him give structure to his life, set goals, keep on track, and work out some problems.

I'm ADHD and I'm looking for one, I'll be seeing one for the same reasons your coworker does, I want to learn to live happy with this so I'm checking into every aspected.

Hiya Dave!

I have to say something here, not because I have seen a life coach, but because where I live in Boston I know a bunch of people who do have one. My doctor keeps pushing it on me, too. I grew up as an only child & I don't want some person going through my life - I think it is really creepy. Doctor thinks this makes me a control freak who resists change even when it is progress. He has a point.

Life coaches are around 0/hr here, I think. However, it depends on what you want. If you want a true psychologist PhD, I think you have to pay that much in an urban area. If you are out in the burbs & you'll take whoever takes on the title, you might be able to pay only 0 or even less. I think you should take the cheapest person because the key here is that they are organizing your life, not babysitting your kids. Experience & attitude matter. I'd do ok at organizing other peoples' lives, I think. My own is just kinda tough.

Where do you live? I can find out how you can get one if you live in a city because I think there is like some professional organization for them.

I found some in my area, I just wanted an imput.

Thanks
