Ritalin LA (the extended release) may be different to you because it works by giving you half the pills meds now, and half about 4 or so hours later. It won't give you that instant releases' "bump" when it starts. It also won't give you that "down" feeling as it stops working either.
Ritalin LA and regular Ritalin are essentially the same - just time release for one. But - if you take it later in the day - the pill is still inside working so yes, you'd find your sleep more difficult than with the smaller time of the regular dose.
I'd suggest that if you are taking it late in the day - take it right as you wake. That would give you most of the day yet not be so close to bedtime (unless you sleep 15 hours a day - then I can't help you there).
I would check with your MD either way - describe how it's working (or not) and see if there's a better way.
I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on it? I was on the ritalin reg, 10mg a day and now I am on Ritalin LA. I am thinking it is not at effective ? And that it does effect my ability to get a good night's sleep
