I had the same issue. But I started Adderall XR 30mg in December of 2004. For the past 3 months or so I've noticed I become aggitated and tired around 1 pm. I take my adderall at either 5 or 6 in the morning. I also have school until 10pm after work 3 times a week. I had been leaving class early or skipping b/c i was too tired or ansty to focus. FINALLY after researching what other adults do if this happens, i decided to just go to my dr and tell her the problem. She said yes, that unfortunatly XR last around 6 to 8 hours. We discussed trying reg Adderall instant release on days i think I might need it or for school. But I was afraid of the side effects of the reg. So she asked me what I thought. I told her extended would be better for me. So she has prescribed me Adderall XR 30mg 2 times a day.
During the first week I seemed to have a constant headache. I'm still not sure what exactly caused this maybe not the Adderall. But literally a week to the day after doing 2 a day the headache was gone and I feel a total difference. Much more focused all day long, much happier all day, don't get irritated, I actually have patience. Which is a huge deal for me. But I take the 2 a day usually monday through saturday. And just one on sunday. I find sunday nights hard to fall asleep to be up the next day for work. So anyway. Hope this helps. Maybe you don't need to up the dose of one a day but maybe keep the same dose with 2 a day. Make sense? IF the 10 is working fine but not lasting, how about another 10? for the afternoon. Good luck. Keep us posted.
thanks, good advice.bella - not that many questions at all - it's good to know about what's happening!
Give it some time - the meds take a while for you to see the complete effect. The forgetfulness - that may take some work - you should practice and tone those brain muscles!
After a short while you should feel that with practice - you'll be able to focus your thoughts tightly and at will - and flip to something else when it suits YOU. It's nice to be in charge!
Do talk to a therapist that knows adult ADHD so they can teach new skills that can be more useful now that you'll be in the driver's seat instead of ADHD!
Sounds like you are doing wonderfully!!
They said my dexedrine XR would last until 9 hours - but that's a stretch too. Mine lasts 6 hours with a MAX of 9 for any effect. But if you keep taking it - you'll be able to coast between pills - your mind will compensate for the dips with some time.
Speaking of dips - ignore the spammers. They are mildly entertaining to me right now - but they are really reaching for the fear rhetoric - something tells me they don't have any new material at all!
Give the meds some time to be acclimated by your system. If then - say a month or two - they begin to fade - ask the MD if maybe more, or a new med would be best. I've only had to up mine twice in a year - the new dose should last a long time I think!
hi :)
lady peace, just wondering what time you take your second dose? 1
pm or so? and when can you feel that dose wear off?
