Actually this is kind of funy, but my wife says I clean our house like a tornado. I don't do any cleaning for days, sometimes over a week (except dishes and laundry of course, some things you just need) and then the storm clouds form, I don't like the way things are looking and
whoosh..... off I go...
Its not uncommon for me to go for hours and hours, without stopping to eat or rest, everything in my path is subject to a scrubbing.. hehe...
yep, she's right, once I get my mind to cleaning I'm not stopping because I know if I do, I will distract myself, and not go back and finish up, so I have to do it all in one fell swoop.
No matter how hard I try, I am not a clean up a little each day, type :)
me too!
i feel like some kind of weather as well. it is tornadic isn't it? so went my organization spree this year..raising beds , getting underbed boxes etc..totally streamlined stuff. (thanks meds!)
but i clean that way too b/c otherwise its pure despair for me too. its like..if i can do it right now then dooo noooot stop me. or it won't start again...i have only enough battery to last this one session of cleaning until i recharge. otherwise i look like a lizard sunning itself in the sun..scurries occasionally to complete tasks.
sumi
ick cleaning sucks
Luckily I have a deal worked out with my roommate I do the dishes and he does everything else. He HATES doing dishes so this is the trade off he makes. :)
Just Dave, you are welcome to clean our house any time you like if you ever cross the pond. My brother is just as chore-phobic as I am!My sis and I were just discussing this issue an hour ago! We both need to clean and were trying to decide which method was best for getting motivated.
I just don't realize that my house is messy until I suddenly see it and realize it! I know I need to clean but it doesn't really look that bad so I put it off for just a few more minutes, then suddenly the day is gone, the week is gone and the house is such a disaster that I can't miss it.
I have to start in one room and do something that makes a dramatic change (like pick things up so I can see that I really do have a floor and not just a walkway !) Maybe not that bad , but close. Once I am motivated, I can't wait to see it done so I become the energizer bunny.
Every once in a while I will get determined and then for a few weeks I can't stand to see anything out of place and my house looks like my neighbor's homes.
I am constantly cleaning, then I get tired and decide I deserve a day to relax and that is the end of that for months, years, whatever. Who keeps track of time?
I have often wondered how other people do it. They never seem to clean but their homes are so spotless. They can tell you that everyone picks up after themselves and it stays done, but what about all the strays kids seem to leave around, or the soft drink can? How do they remember to take it out to the recycle bin every time they finish one? You can't tell me they take it out the moment they have emptied it. I just won't buy that!
