Effexor caused me sleepiness, so I took it at night, an hour before bed. Ritalin was able to calm me down enough that my tired body would fall asleep just after I dropped the Rit. When I get proper sleep, Rit just calms me, I can type clearly, and think like a hue maan.
Deal with your sleep dep, and wait til the Effexor's up to given 'er all she's got... You'll be going through some interesting experiences for a month or so, before you're dialed in.

when i got to my max dose of effexor, it was actually keeping me from sleeping and then i would sleep all day. it was a vicious cycle. one of the reasons i couldn't sleep was due to the extreme teeth grinding i experienced with effexor, especially at night.Having teeth grinding troubles? I do too - WAY before taking meds. My dentist (a great guy btw) built me a mouthpiece that stops it altogether. My insurance covered almost all of it - but without it would have been a couple hundred. It clips onto my upper teeth and keeps me from biting down at all. I even got permission to use it at work in case I grind there! You should think about trying one - they do a good job.

You may not be metabolizing the 2 drugs very well. That would definitely cause exhaustion.
Are you sweating more ? (It's another sign of too much drug.)
Nope, no additional sweating. I must state, that fatigue or being tired is something that I have had for awhile now- long before the meds. I am up by 4:45 am and am at work by 6, leave at 3, drive to the gym and back home at night by 7:30. Give or take 30 minutes on any of the above times. So, I know that "working" two jobs is contributing to my tiredness. (plus my commute is 60 miles each way)
Seems tho that I'm just that little bit more tired. Or maybe I thought taking the meds would perk me up and I"m not feeling that way yet. Patience was never a virtue of mine. But, I will wait and keep track of how I'm feeling.
Ok, so as some of you know I just started my meds this past weekend
37.5 mg of Effexor
54 mg of Concerta
Took the meds 7 am saturday and was exhausted most of the day - but could've been because i didn't get much sleep thinking about the meds that I would start.
took the meds again Sunday. Other than hunger pains, and one bout for about 20 mins with a raging headache and stomach ache, I felt fine. Maybe a little calmer than usual and even keel. did not do any of the work I was supposed to do.
Monday - fear of the hunger pains prevented me from taking the effexor, just took the conerta. Was exhausted all day, did not do my work and spent the whole day on this website posting and reading. Hmmm, no concentration on the things I'm supposed to do.
Went to bed early, got up at 5 am, stayed up all morning because I was going for a "sleep deprived eeg" at 8. Fell asleep there for 45 minutes. Home by 10:30. Started both meds again when I arrived back home. Having slightly blurry vision - but could be because I'm so tired again. It's been almost an hour since taking the meds.
Still no concentration to do my full time job or do things for my gym.
Is anyone exhausted on meds? I thought concerta was speed? Why am I ready to go to sleep???
It works opposite on ADHD hyper patients. You take amphetamines and it slows you down. You may want to discuss with your MD - as there are alternatives and combinations when it's not working right.
