taritac - you DO initially lose some lbs on adderall - but it's not long lasting. I wouldn't recommend it as a weight loss aid because you'd have to take stronger doses than ADHD is worked on with to get that effect.
I don't gorge on food mind you but I have a healthy appetite after a year on dexedrine. I eat a solid 3 meals - and get cravings for snacks. But- I can say my weight has stayed stable throughout so there's a benefit there! Could be the extra physical workout I get these days at work since getting more energy though.

I've been thinking that at the very least, I'd be able to manage my time better so that I could fit in time for exercise.
Just remember that to get best effect it has to be working inside for a few weeks to start. It evolves as you improve. Therapy helps you catch on to the cues the adderall leaves you too. I may seem like dexedrine is a panacea - but I still have to go "woah" and look things over sometimes of I goof.
Do talk with your doc about how you feel and that you feel drained. You should at least feel normal energy - not lessened. Sleep is a big thing - don't go through the week on 3 hours a night or guess what? - you are wasting all that meds just staying awake. I get 5 to 8 hours a night solid sleep or I'm a nightmare. I am on rotating shiftwork so I take one day per week where I sleep until satisfied. I don't schedule anything in that day's sleep time and I make damn sure everyone knows I'm not taking visitors then!
Sleep well, eat balanced and work with your medical people. That's the best thing you can do for you! Sounds trite and simple but I hear a lot of people saying they eat poorly, sleep worse and don't get into their MD except for refills and don't go to a psych for help. Bad people! If I had a newspaper I'd be smacking you all. Bad people! Get off the couch while you're at it LOL!!
yes I liked the buzz to it reminded me of high school and speeders, I'm on 20mg in the am and 10mg in the afternoon if I need it, I just wanted to make sure that it was working right, I'm trying my hardest to get control and I know I need the med's, just on them 2 weeks and I feel like a different personOh, when you are taking Adderall or dexedrine - you know it. For some it's a bit more subtle but usually you feel the boost of concentration, energy and confidence within 30 minutes of taking a dose. Especially after the weekend off.
It does settle in and be more of a focus and centering thing - but it's always with you - to add that extra charge to your willpower, coordination and general well being.
Honestly I've only tried Strattera otherwise and wasn't very impressed with that. It's possible that ritalin would have done the same thing for me but my hunch is not.
If the buzz goes away with adderall after a couple weeks does that mean it's not working? I'm hungry also, is this normal
The buzz goes away in 2 to 4 weeks. Then it's more a part of your life and you feel a bit more normal. But if you feel the same old negatives and the lack of willpower - the best thing to do is up it 10mg and check it out. I had to go 10 to 30 over the last year - and now stable at between 20 to 30. Check with your MD to be sure!
Normal hunger coming back is normal too. I went from having to remember that I need food to feeling the temptations for snacks and high-carbs I never used to. I'm way more high energy though and I assume it's my bod telling me I'm starving the poor puppy.
Out of curiosity, can you tell if you're taking Adderall? I've been taking Concerta for a couple months now and haven't felt a thing since the first couple days. I notice that I'm calmer when I've taken it (if I'm feeling edgy) and I notice other little things like less spaceyness and less jumpiness. But, I was just wondering if Adderall has a different effect or if that's the ideal for both medications. If the buzz goes away with adderall after a couple weeks does that mean it's not working? I'm hungry also, is this normal
Whats was your initial dosage? With me, getting hungry was not an issue, But rather I could only eat small amounts before my appitite was satisfied.
My wife, however, hated what the adderall did to me.
Not so much a buzz as just my hightened desire to get up and go non stop.

Just kidding ! No dude - the buzz is GONE. Doesn't come back. Mine lasted about 2 weeks too, then no more. You just gotta enjoy it while you have it. The buzz was a cherry on top for me. Even w/o the buzz I still love my adderall.
