Ace,
Do some homework on Concerta. Then have a talk with your mom about it. Ask your mother what she was like at 15 and her relationship with HER mother at that time. (It'll get her thinking)
I'll tell you what I told my daughters when they hit 15.... What is the utmost important thing to you TODAY, will be totally insignificant to you in less than 3 months. The best thing about being 15 is... THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
Lies.Yeah my mom thinks that i act up (which i do but not bad enough to deserve this) I can definintly feel it, it does slow me down and help me concentrate but it feels really weird. Oh and i do voice my opinion but i "i will understand when i get older" so i don't know what to do. But i am starting the 54 concerta tomorrow. Just out of curiousity what is the OD limit on drugs like this? Thanks for your help people.
And i am a he, for one. And its not my pediatrician that is changing it it is my (nurse) mom and my psychiatrist ( who also happens to be adhd ). They tried to put me on stritara but after the sexual sideeffects and being banned in other countries for liver stuff, i told them i don't think so. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
aceofspade38658.8391898148bugz,
Is it normal to have your dosage nearly TRIPLE in less than a year ?
I think she has genuine concerns.
What makes people think increasing concentration fixes kids this is false. They just learn in different ways than others. This therefore means they need different materials to be sucessful. I think the post is as phony as you. reported.. bren and reality are the same ...
I will be posting this in the teens board too. I am 15 (sophmore) and i have been taking various adhd meds for over 8 years. Welbutrin, adderall, metadate, and now concerta. In the last yeah i have gone from 15mg of adderall xr to 20 then 30 now 40 and now i am being prescribed 54 mg concerta. Is this normal? This much difference this quickly? Any help is appreciated. I just want your opinion.
Did you feel the meds you were on helping you at all? It is your body and I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. It could be maybe age, weight why or by what you are reporting on your visits. I am not an expert just trying to help. Talk to the doctor.

It appears that the doctor and your parents have forgotten being 15 years old. Sounds like you're acting up a little too much for your mother and she figures you need more drugs to slow you down.
Ask your grandmother if you're being treated right.
Is there any way that you can "just say no" to the increase ?
Check out www.ritalindeath.com and show it to your mother.
Over the course of 8 yrs, and a sudden switch. This is to find what works for you, not a game. What problems are you having with the medications you were on before?
I think the post is as phony as you. reported.. bren and reality are the same ...

bugzappers,
Bren (Brent) should not be reported. He isn't a Troll. Brent has been on this board for a long time. (He has had trouble in the past logging in therefore it looks as if he hasn't been here long) He doesn't cause trouble - just a bit of frustration here and there and has a difficulty saying what he wants to say. Please don't hold that against him.
bugz it doesn't really matter, does it?Do you have a hard time sitting in a chair with your arms and legs bent at the same time?
Do you have bad handwriting?
Can you sit comfortably when your arms or legs are straight?
There is a reflex that we all have when we are babies. If it doesn't get matured, you can be controlled by it. It can give you symptoms of ADD or ADHD.
I was dx ADD and meds helped me a lot. Then they seemed to wear off.
I read this book that told me all about this reflex. the reflex is the STNR. It was still controlling me. I know that when I was a baby, I never crawled because I had casts on my legs for pigeon toes. I went from pulling myself across the floor, to walking when my casts came off.
When I read this book Stopping ADHD, all of the symptoms are ones that I had. Many of them are ADD symptoms also.
I have done the exercises for only a little while and I have seem improvements already. I can't explain how it is helping. I don't know how it can help with my memory, but it has been amazing. I remember things all the time now. I don't space thing off anymore.
I believe that many other people out there can be helped by this book also.
It might help you. You could ask your parents to get it for you or to check it out of the library. I think if they see that you are willing to do these exercises to improve your symptoms, they would like that.
Anyway, it has really helped me.
