. I know that many medications have numerous side effects associated with them that are considered benign but I guess my constant chest tightness has gotten more so of an annoyance than anything and I wanted to see how many Adderall users experience the same type of symptoms... Hopefully some replys will help shed some light on my current dilema?? For all that reply, thanks!
I had some chest tightness when I started Dexedrine a year ago. It was more like a pressure on my chest than "pain" - it was like me laying down and having a stack of books on my chest.
My doc ruled out cardiac - and I was not in stress. We both guessed that it could be blood flow increasing in the chest muscles causing nerves there to get a wrong signal about pressure as there was no pain involved.
I get a little pressure around my ribs when I am exerting myself at work - but when I stop working it goes away fast.
Do check if it worries you. But, if it's not an issue more of a annoyance I would not be overly worried as you have already seen that your heart is fine.
do you have trouble breathing? did they make you wear a holter monitor? They should perform all kinds of tests before they rule it out.
I noticed for myself lately (before the meds) that my stress and aggravation level have gone up considerably and when I get that way my chest feels tight too. I just started the meds last weekend and felt nice and calm. Yesterday, I was all stressed out again and the tightness came back. I finally realized that I was like that all the time. It felt weird to not have that for a couple of days.
I am not on Adderall, but can you go off of it for a weekend? Compare how you feel? What has your dr said? Switch meds?
