Ya, I had thought of that. But they said they don't get samples since it is a controlled medication.
Ya, I gave it a nickname. I don't think anyone has caught on at work what I am talking about when I discuss this with my hubby on the phone.
Ya, so now that I am taking Adderall XR 30mg twice a day I had to get a prior authorization request from my health ins. co.
The problem?
I didn't know. My dr. gave me a prescription for 60 pills. A 30 day prescription. My health ins. co could only approve 31 pills in a 30 day period. Makes sense, controlled substance. I was upset b/c that only give me 2 weeks worth. I called health ins. they said to get prior auth. I did, they said ok. its auth. BUT, then they suggested I use MEDCO by mail. My dr. can write me a 3 month prescription. I mail it to MEDCO, they mail me my 90 day supply and I only pay 1 co-pay!!!!!!! for 3 months worth??? WOOHOO!!!
What, I haven't stated my problem?
Well. Its thursday night, I have one adderall XR left. For tomorrow. I can handle 1. its all right. I do it Sundays anyway. I can handle 1 day w/out any. Done that too. But I just mailed the prescription monday, the 31st. MEDCO just received it yesterday. They told me I can expect it in the mail from 11-14 to 11-17. See my problem? 13 days. No Addy.

I don't have the money right now to go back to the pharmacy just to get 13 days worth of addy and what if they can't give it since MEDCO has my prescription? And pharmacy's always give me a hard time about it. And unfortunatly the 2 pharmacy's i go to all the people who work there have VERY THICK accents. From all over the world. I can understand them.
Anyone have any suggestions? There probably isn't any. I know someone mention there are a few books with certain concentration excersices or something. But don't forget I don't have a floating for another co-pay, so that means no bookstores.

And yes, I'm sure any doctor would accept this as appropriate behavior. You are concerned about legality issues???? Grow up. Keep the laws where they apply, not where you would like to place them.
I am sure in the eyes of the law, which would be in court, the jury and the judge would be compelled to side with the defendant. If I were on the jury and this case was before me, I would feel compelled to vote not guilty.
The plantiff on the other hand , might be held for psychiatric evaluation.
After all, if it were so illegal, why didn't they evac all the meds from walgreens and drug stores when katrina hit?
Instead those drugs wound up on the streets, and are still doing damage now.
It's said that ADDers generally have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. It's obvious that 'reality' shouldn't even be in here. I knew David was joking as soon as I read his post and I'm sure everyone else legitimately on here knew he was joking too.
Lady Peace - see if your dr. will give you a prescription for regular-release adderall (not XR) to hold you over. You can get generic adderall pretty cheap.
Thanks guys for the info. My most important concern is school. I am going to school to be a court reporter. So my undivided attention is nessecary. I practice for an hour in the morning before work. I work in a call center. I take about 150+ calls a day about 2 to 4 min each. So unfortunatly I don't have the ability to work for that 15 and take 5. That would be a god send if I could, good idea too. But alas, they won't let us do that.
Then go to school from 6 to 9 or 10 give or take. So then I need those evening hours to concentrate on dictation. I can handle work as long as I keep my temper and frustration under control. (gotta love the mute button) But school, I have to make sure I sit still for those hours.
Luckily I don't seem to have problems sleeping anymore. Started taking amitryptilin, (sp?) 10mg up to 30mg on hard nights, 3 years ago. Used to take me 3 hours to fall asleep then I could never stay asleep. But anyway, off topic. RANDOM
I used to drink lo-carb monster energy drinks. So I went ahead and bought a few today. Just in case. That seems to be the norm with ADD'ers. 
And to the other subject, I knew he was joking. I mean what normal, rational, sane, compassionate person would think otherwise? Do I need to answer? Ok, good. Didn't think so.

No kids. and my hubby is on wellbutrin XL.
But i'll survive. I did for 23 years before this. I know what I have now and I know what to except for the next week or more. I guess this will be my medication vacation as some others take every once in a while. I haven't taken my last one. Don't think I will. Don't need it right now.
I guess its true about people who really have ADHD don't get addicted to their meds.

You have no idea what dealing with life AND ADHD without meds you know and trust to aid you is like! Would you try and shame someone if this was insulin, penicillin or AZT? We have a VALID, accepted and very real illness that can make our lives a total wreck.
You have no right as a person who is not affected by ADHD in any way shape of form to judge us. You should not even be here - no family with ADHD, no friends.

here's what my suggestion is, coming from a fellow wife, employee and student :)
buy the book "add friendly ways of organizing your life"
VERY helpful.
as far as work goes, and school, get an little kitchen timer and set it for 15 minute increments. work your buns off for 15 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. it helps to break things up.
get in exercise, works like a little dose of ritalin.
do your grocery shopping for the next two weeks NOW - buy: pasta, sauce, a pizza crust and pre-packaged shredded cheese, tortillas and canned refried beans for burritos, canned soup, bagged salad... you get it. stuff that you can throw together for dinner when you're starving and you lost track of time.
if you aren't comfortable telling your office you have ad/hd, why not tell them you've been suffering from migraines/a cold/ something mild but that might slow you up a little. that way you can take it easier on yourself.
hmmm what else? plan outfits the night before you leave the house, pack purse, backpack, whatever then too.
stick snacks like granola bars in your glove box, purse, etc.
what is your main concern and maybe i'll come up with something novel for ya ;-)
i just started addy (i call it that too!) 2 weeks ago so i have come up with tons of coping tricks that i think will help you for the next 13 days.
oh... and if all else fails: sugar free red bull! i'm telling ya, it's a lifesaver!! (or coffee, whatever)

It sounds as though you are concerned about withdrawal symptoms while you cannot take your Adderrall.
In my line of work, I get to work with some "unsavory characters". When they've run out of money and can't get their "recreational pharmaceuticals", they buy cold remedies such as Sudafed to tide them over until payday. It must alleviate the symptoms somewhat.
Also, if you have trouble sleeping, my SSRI survivors used to rely heavily on Nighttime Benadryl to help them sleep while they were withdrawing from the SSRI meds.
Dramamine or gravol works for dizziness. (Another SSRI trick).
Then again, maybe you'll have no problems while you wait for your new prescription.

I was just pointing out that I agree with Canada Health, the FDA, the DEA and even the manufacturers that THESE DRUGS ARE ADDICTIVE !!!
The cute little warning that the manufacturers give is certainly not enough. "Abuse may lead to dependence" does not adequately point out that most people will develop addiction problems with most of the ADHD meds.
I didn't twist your words.... you constantly claim that these meds are "not addictive" as long as you take the prescribed dose every day.

The RESULT, INSTANT BED DEATH.
So studies tell you, DON't SLEEP.
Dr. fartinuuuogun has 300 minutes of research on dead batteries, now claims that the beds have caused the acid in the batteries to neutralize. He also claims that if you lie on a bed and then get up and touch a battery, you will implode.

I do NOT endorse taking other people's meds - especially when you are not prescribed them. That is not only illegal its dangerous and unwise on many levels. However, if a parent and child are prescribed the same med - and there is no availability of one's med the other's will suffice as long as it's not the last of the pills being taken. That's just common sense - the parent will refill their prescription and replace the taken med.

THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW !!! It is a criminal offense to fraudulently obtain a prescription for a "controlled" drug.
