It might be to new but I thought I would ask.
I'm just curious how well it's working for other people
My 12-year-old son is taking 15 mg Focalin XR. He's going great. He likes it better than Concerta, which made him feel flat and inhibited. Is your child taking it? SmallMom38662.7468634259What is Focalin and who does it help?Focalin is a refined version of Ritalin that is supposed to cause fewer side effects. It comes in regular (short-acting) and XR (long-acting up to 8 hours). Google it and you'll get a sense of how Focalin is different from the Ritalin family. As I said above, it's been great for my son, who has mainly inattentive ADHD.
Bailey,
I think because your son has a heart murmur, you have to be extra careful with stimulants. I assume your son is under the care of a cardiologist, who OKs med choices???
Adderall XR was awful for my son, too. He has a mild tic disorder, but when he was on Adderall, his face was so jumpy that other kids at school asked him what was wrong with him. My son also gets migraines, and Strattera gave him 2 full-blown migraines in 3 days. Concerta made him feel flat and inhibited. Focalin XR has been the best for us, but as you well know, meds affect each child differently. Ultimately, you as a parent have to make the best decision for your child based on your doctor's recommendations.
SmallMom,

No! My 12 year old son is taking 20mg of adderall and I take 60mg of Ritalin LA
My son was on Ritalin but his heart started to race after doing very well on it for 3 years, than we tried Strattera he got severely depressed, Dexedrine didn't work either so we tried Adderall, I'm not overly impressed but it helps he's been on it for about a year nowMy 8 year old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD and the doctor put him on 20 mg of Focalin XR, we are in our 3rd week and have seen a wonderful response from the drug! we are actually enjoying spending time with our son for the first time in a long time! he is getting 100% in school and can sit still and read independently for the first time ever! We feel like a miracle has occured at our home! i was worried about the big 20 mg dose but he seems to tolerate it well, his appetite has decreased some and he has a a couple of headaches but all is very manageable considering the great response at home and at school we are seeing! it is amazing!has anyone noticed focalin xr making their child be more hot than normal? Since my daughter started taking focalin xr she is always hot, I am not sure if it's the med but it started around the same time
