Hello all,
I just got a prescription for Adderall XR 15 mg this morning. I am both excited an nervous. My son is on Adderall XR 10 mg reduced from 15 mg so I know the side effects. I'm looking forward to a hopefully positive experience. Wish me luck, I start tomorrow morning.

I'm SO excited for you! I will be thinking of you today!!!
Just remember that it may not be the lightening bolt effect... I remember when I took my first dose I had NO IDEA it was working untill two days later I sat down to do homework and sat for 2 whole hours!!! Doing PRODUCTIVE STUDYING!!! It was so amazing to me that I cried when I realized how long I had been studying and how effortlessly it came. Please let us know how it goes!!!
I was nervous too when I took my first dose a month ago. Like Lizzy said, you may or not "feel" something right away but believe me, it makes a difference! I actually sat down yesterday at work for over an hour and planned out all the testing I need to do for the whole week next week. It wasn't until I got home and thought about it what an accomplishment that is for me. And yet it came effortlessly.
You'll do just fine!
Hey everyone, Thanks for the encouragement.
I just took my first dose about 3 hours ago. I have already noticed a decrease in appetite. I have never been an early morning eater so even though I get up at 5:30 AM i usually don't eat anything until I get to work at 9:00 AM. I usually get a large coffee and something high in carbs and sugar. Today I just got a small coffee (I am kind of concerned about adding caffine to the Adderall XR) and no food at all. Since I am about 30 lbs. overweight that doesn't really bother me. I have noticed some dry mouth, not to bad. Also, I feel kind of jittery but I am hoping since it is just my first day this will go away with a little time.
The really great thing is I feel full of energy and not tired. I am usually tired from the moment I get up until I go back to bed with a really bad time between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. I'm hoping to get a lot done today. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

As i'm sure you know, many have had great success with the XL. I wuold like to try it myself, but i have have mentioned before, i never seem to do well with the "once a day thing". But who knows it just may be OK. I'd rather have to take one in the morning, and not have to remember to take more during the day( 3 total)20mg.
Let us know how it works out for you. Greeeeeaaat, i hope!

Yes, for me too the jitteriness went away after a couple days. While I was on vacation a couple weeks ago I thought the drug was no longer working. So I stopped taking it for a couple days. It was during those 2 days I realized how much the drug was truly helping me! Like Lizzy said, it's like the "high" fades, but all the benefits are still there!
I just realized this week, too, that I'm actually starting to like my job! I've hated it for 2 years now but with the Adderall it's giving me what I need to be able to effectively do my job. And now I realize it's not such a bad job after all. It's not great, but I don't hate it anymore.
Keep us posted on how you are doing and how you are feeling. Feel free to ask any questions that may come up while you are adjusting to the med!
