Concerta- Is it having the right affectcarm, I am new to this medication thing to. I just started Adderall XR 15 mg today. I must say my experience so far has been very different from yours but, we are on different stimulants. I would say the calm and relaxed feeling is good. Are you also able to focus on things better, say projects at work or reading? Usually stimulants don't make people tired unless they keep them from sleeping at night. Although there are those people who seem to get the opposite effect than is intended from medicaitons. Is this the case with you? How many days have you taken this medication? You might just have to wait awhile for your body to adjust. I hope someone who has experience with Concerta will respond. -Gettingagrip-
Gettingagrip- Okay, so I have only been taking the Concerta for 5 days. I do feel that I am more focused and calm. I just seem to be a little extra sleepy during the day and I have had absolutely no problem sleeping at night. Maybe, I do need more time and maybe being tired has nothing to do with the medication. Who knows? I guess I just expected to be a lot more awake. Thanks for your input..I totally appreciate it. Carm I've been on concerta for 2 weeks - I have (ADD) the inattentiveform of ADHD. Started at 18mg and am now at 72mg. I don't notice anything ADD related that is effected by the med. I also get slight headaches and the bonus of a very decreased appetite. I know that no matter what the side effect they will probably dwindle after a few weeks. This is my first med. I don't know what or how I am supposed to feel but I know that I still feel like I'm constantly battling myself for sustained attention to tasks. Oh- another thing... Concerta is a medication that starts working right away so my psychiatrist had me check in w/ him every 3 days so that he could increase my dosage if necessary. Now he wants me to continue w/ 72mg until my one month appt. (8/9). You should be able to increase up to 72 (it's the max) my doc increased by 18 mg increments. Good Luck |
