the tell/dont tell thing | ADHD Information
They are a very large corporation - huge actually.
I was asked once if I had any disabilities during my hiring/orientation
and was led to believe that hiring the diabled was a priority with
them, at least so they could report it to the Feds.
Make any sense? This is a place very keen on affiirnative action (by
which I hope means hiring the "disabled"), that hires some mentally
retarded individuals, that cans people regularly for sexual harrasment,
that is a very high visibility charitable donor etc. etc.
I've been mulling over the tell/don't tell thing.
I am subject to a sort of lay off at the end of the year. No seniority.
Thousands of people are at my work. They are very sensitive to
affirmitive action and being a white male this isn't a good thing
seeing as how the place is packed with white males. But having a disability would likely help me out.
I'm not sure and haven't really determined anyone who I could discreetly bring up the subject with.
I never tell anyone, ever. Only my wife.
Unless you see where it is definitely affecting your work and you can prove that, plus come up with positive accomodations they can implement, I wouldn't tell.
If they are doing a massive layoff, it will be very hard to prove that your layoff had anything to do with ADHD. It won't prevent them from laying you off unless you can prove you are on the list because of ADHD rather one of the many who are on it due to cutbacks.
