hi saphire!

First - are the MDs that prescribed the adderall XR and know about your BP the same? Make sure all people involved know about your blood pressure as you'll have to monitor it weekly for a while to make sure it doesn't get aggravated.

The big side effects you watch for are the rise in heart rate (some feel it - most don't find it a problem), weight loss (it doesn't last - a couple of weeks you'll have to make an effort to remember to eat that's all), sex drive (some go up some down it lasts a month or two usually).  Some feel agitated or anxious - that's usually when the dose is too high and 10mg you should be fine.

Any side effects you'll typically feel 30 minutes into the dose, or when it is dissipating 12 hours or so after.  Some get a feeling of energy drain at the end of the day - usually I find it's actually lack of proper nutrition that does it.

Make sure you go in at least weekly to make sure you are ok.  I find that dexedrine and adderall work great - they give you focus and the ability to fight the urges.  As always - make SURE you get therapy as well because you will need to learn new ways to do things as they will seem alien to you for a while.

Good luck - glad you're here!!

thanks so much for all the great info, my dr's are all aware of the blood pressure and i am now on meds for it, and the therpist who diagnosed me also wants me to continue to see him to see how the meds are working and also wants meto come in and do some one on one to learn some things about adhd and how to cope with different things  in my every day life

thanks again saphire
