Starting Over...Again | ADHD Information

I'm going for a job in sales. I live in Oregon. I'm staying with my Sister.
It's not easy finding a position that will pay enough to survive, much less
get ahead. I Will do what ever I set my mind to do...It has always been
that way for me. It is just getting the right goal in mind.... I want to buy
my own home... I will buy my own home! To achieve I must believe. Thanks to everyone for the positive feed back...I will keep you posted on
my sussecces. I dropped off a resum'e today, and this evening I was
called an asked to come back tomorrow for an interview.

good luck!

Alan

Hi LTC1,

You're full of positive energy and you know what you want to accomplish.

I'm sure you'll succeed. Best wishes to you.

Phil, A.K.A Crazyhorse

LTC1,

"Doing whatever you set your mind to do", that truly is the key. I"m 44 with ADHD-combined type as well.  I too always thought I would be taken care of by my Prince Charming.  Guess it's just our generation..to many farry tales...

There is a book called "The Power of the Subconscious Mind" I would highly recommend.  Your posts reminded me of it.

Basically our subconscious mind puts in to motion what we think about, what we talk about...It is so true and is why when we put our mind and heart so intently on something, nothing can stop us!  Especially we All Or Nothing ADHDers!

Go For It and HIP HIP HORAY!

fantastic LTC1!!!!!!!!  you don't need luck cos you can do it anyway but if you want it, here it is: 'good luck'!

keep us posted.

First off, good for you!!!  Motivation is a key factor, and it sounds like you have that!!  So you're off to a good start!

If you are just now starting to "take care of yourself" does that mean you are budgeting for yourself for the first time?  I have some financial advice:

DO NOT buy anything you do not need.  Do not rack up credit card debt, its not worth it.  right now, you are just starting out.  you don't need that latest CD, or a fancy car - just get something that works ;-)

Do you have a job prospect?  Where are you living now?  BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!  People on this board have been very helpful to me, here's hoping we can help you too!!!

Question,
What do you do for a living? if nothing, what do you want to do? What
part of the country do you live in? How much do you need to make? What
are the future goals after the short term goals are accomplished?

Wow LTC - congrats!

I too always wanted a man to take care of me - but as my dad said shove off and I'm a straight guy it just never worked out for me .  Oh well.

I used to judge who I was by if I was with a woman.  Independence is scary, exciting and very important so you can grow.  Anxiety sucks - but fight the urge to run and it's very good!

Get yourself a professional resume done, get a decent job to start and begin to stock up on the things that make your home comfortable.  It took a while for me - left all my stuff with my ex (seemed fair).  Now its mine all MINE!

I will be here if you need someone to chat with - we all will be.

Good luck!!

I did a spate of these recently.

I think in a few I was TOO not nervous, TOO eager, TOO intense.

I remember doing one with a rather mild soft-spoken woman who would have been my boss and a half hour later thinking "she doesn't want to deal with me."

I'm forceful. :-) Toned it down a bit for some interviews, got a low-paying kid job that is working my a** off but I am going to look like a muscleman in a year.
I'm a 46 years old female ADHD combined type. An I Am starting life a
NEW! I have always looked for a man to take care of me. Time has come
for me to stand on my own! I am going to be a sussecces... All I need
is... 1) to get a JOB, 2) get my own place to LIVE, 3) FURNISH place to
LIVE ( I have a dinning room table, no chairs), 4) CAR that doesn't DIE in
traffic,...

I do have my work cut out for ME!!!

Wish me luck??? Give me advise??? I got a JOB!!! I'm going to be selling furniture. Woo hoo!!!     I got a call to nite. I 'm not getting the job I didn't have all my
reference phone numbers on my app. Sooo they said they where passing
on me at this time.

I have been praying for Gods will to be done in my life...this must not
have been the right job!

Great to  see that you are remaining positive!  You are going to get the perfect job! And since I see that you believe in prayer, I'll add you to my own prayers.

Sherry

Congratulation on your new life.  Make it an adventure.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go! I did it twice and this time I'm on my way! Fisrt off- if you
almost got one job so quickly, I'm sure you'll have a job before long!

What worked for me this time was surfing the waves of loneliness, fear
and uncertainty and keeping the shore in my sight! Even when I couldn't
see the shore, I kept it in my mind. Two things have been my shore...
staying single for three years and buying a place. I've just crossed the
third aniversary and I bought a condo a few months ago! I've never before
kept a shore in mind. Instead I just caught the next wave!

Initally my metaphor was swimming too! I always said that I had just
enough energy left to swim for the shore at the end of my last
relationship! I think I sat on the shore for a while before I became a
surfer! What ever works I say! I'd been treading water for a while!

So keep on swimming and believing that you can do it cause of course
you can!
My thoughts are with you!

Thats right LTC1, things happen for a reason.

Stay focused and strong in your spirit!

It's not easy for me to keep a positive out look.

I have to fight my self to keep a smile
]to keep away from the donward spiral

I had a dream last night that I was being taken to the mission. I screamed
and woke myself up. I said God NO it hasn't come to this. Has it !!!

I believe in me. I believe in me. I BELIEVE IN ME!!! LTC138677.4552199074

Look at that... you're a hero to boot!

You save countless lives by giving blood.  I like the swimming analogy too... keep your eyes on the shore...You'll get there!

Sherry

I might be clueless on what to do, but at least I'm not totaly
worthless...The blood bank always wants my blood...I'm a baby blood
donor...I just got a call so I'm going to give blood this afternoon.

I have a UA Test on Monday....I got a JOB!!!

WOOHOOO LTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy for you!! WAY TO GO!!!

Sherry

Congratulations LTC1!  We are proud of you!

Hey LTC1...

I don't think we've ever spoke, but this seems to be a really great crowd.  I'm new and it's nice to see people being so supportive.  I'm happy to hear about the job!! Congrats!  I also have a sales job, which is the best for us adHd types!!  I am a mortgage loan officer and love it!!  The money is better than anything I've ever worked at and it is a sit down and talk on the phone kind of job.  It really doesn't sound exciting but it is.  If you ever have the chance I would look into it.  Sales is about the best position for someone with ADHD I think.  My advise to you if you have never worked in sales or are somewhat new is this.  Stay on the track you are on!! I mean with the positive attitude.  Nothing kills your sales performance quicker than a discouraged attitude.  I think you will do great!!!!!!!!!!  Good luck and let me know if I can give you any sales advice.

Good Job!!  Good Luck!!

By the way...

I love your signature...Me and my wife always joke about Dori and her ADHD.  It's horrible...but also funny...just had to share!

Thanks to everyone for the support an encouragement. LTC - you're great!  congrats!
