Hi LTC1,
You're full of positive energy and you know what you want to accomplish.
I'm sure you'll succeed. Best wishes to you.

LTC1,
"Doing whatever you set your mind to do", that truly is the key. I"m 44 with ADHD-combined type as well. I too always thought I would be taken care of by my Prince Charming. Guess it's just our generation..to many farry tales...
There is a book called "The Power of the Subconscious Mind" I would highly recommend. Your posts reminded me of it.
Basically our subconscious mind puts in to motion what we think about, what we talk about...It is so true and is why when we put our mind and heart so intently on something, nothing can stop us! Especially we All Or Nothing ADHDers!
Go For It and HIP HIP HORAY!

First off, good for you!!! Motivation is a key factor, and it sounds like you have that!! So you're off to a good start!
If you are just now starting to "take care of yourself" does that mean you are budgeting for yourself for the first time? I have some financial advice:
DO NOT buy anything you do not need. Do not rack up credit card debt, its not worth it. right now, you are just starting out. you don't need that latest CD, or a fancy car - just get something that works ;-)
Do you have a job prospect? Where are you living now? BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! People on this board have been very helpful to me, here's hoping we can help you too!!!
Question,Wow LTC - congrats!
I too always wanted a man to take care of me - but as my dad said shove off and I'm a straight guy it just never worked out for me
. Oh well.
I used to judge who I was by if I was with a woman. Independence is scary, exciting and very important so you can grow. Anxiety sucks - but fight the urge to run and it's very good!
Get yourself a professional resume done, get a decent job to start and begin to stock up on the things that make your home comfortable. It took a while for me - left all my stuff with my ex (seemed fair). Now its mine all MINE!
I will be here if you need someone to chat with - we all will be.
Good luck!!

It's not easy for me to keep a positive out look.Look at that... you're a hero to boot!
You save countless lives by giving blood. I like the swimming analogy too... keep your eyes on the shore...You'll get there!

Congratulations LTC1! We are proud of you!
Hey LTC1...
I don't think we've ever spoke, but this seems to be a really great crowd. I'm new and it's nice to see people being so supportive. I'm happy to hear about the job!! Congrats! I also have a sales job, which is the best for us adHd types!! I am a mortgage loan officer and love it!! The money is better than anything I've ever worked at and it is a sit down and talk on the phone kind of job. It really doesn't sound exciting but it is. If you ever have the chance I would look into it. Sales is about the best position for someone with ADHD I think. My advise to you if you have never worked in sales or are somewhat new is this. Stay on the track you are on!! I mean with the positive attitude. Nothing kills your sales performance quicker than a discouraged attitude. I think you will do great!!!!!!!!!! Good luck and let me know if I can give you any sales advice.
Good Job!! Good Luck!!
By the way...
I love your signature...Me and my wife always joke about Dori and her ADHD. It's horrible...but also funny...just had to share!
Thanks to everyone for the support an encouragement. LTC - you're great! congrats!
