Tried Strattera... I was recently on Strattera for
around 3 weeks. After reading the message boards I felt much better
knowing that I wasn't the only one (male) with the nasty side effects.
I stopped taking it after 3 weeks. I start back to college this fall as an adult student, and I'm fairly concerned with trying to get this figured out before I go back. I was debating on asking the doctor about Concerta, but I'd like to know how others faired with it. Also, I have some terrible anxiety. I used to be extremely laid back, but somewhere along the line that all changed. I swear at 29 I'll be lucky to make it to 40 with the anxiety I have. Is there any way to treat the ADHD and the anxiety as well, without the 2 medications conflicting with one another. Any replies are appreciated, Kevin I, too, have nasty anxiety issues. I'm on Adderall XR 10 mg once a day then 5 mg regular release late afternoon. I also take Wellbutrin XL 300 mg and Lexapro 10 mg. This is a very good combination for me. The Lexapro has done miracles for my anxiety!! The Adderall does not interfere with the Lexapro. Let me know if you have anymore questions about this - I'd be happy to help if I can.
Hi sammies93, I don't have any experience with Concerta as I am just newly diagnosed with ADHD at 47. I am just trying Adderall XR 15 mg (5th day). I can't say that I have experienced any greater concentration. Although, I have noticed that I can listen to people without my mind wandering about 10 seconds after they've started talking. I did experience some other side effects like a jittery feeling when I first started but that seems to be subsiding. I also have a dry mouth and scratchy throat . I don't know if that is do to the Adderall or if I am getting a cold as my daughter has one. I also have had for the past few days what I would call pressure in my forehead. It isn't so bad I would call it a headache but It it there most of the time. What I really wanted to tell you was I know that you can be treated for both ADHD and Anxiety at the same time. My son takes Adderall XR, Strattera and Lexapro all in combination. Many people on this board have been treated for both simultaneously. I hope someone with more medication experience than I responds to you. Welcome to the board and best wishes. -Gettingagrip- Thanks for the replies. I figured there was a way that they could both be treated at the same time. With school coming up and working full time, it sure isn't helping my anxiety.
My only concern is that when I was prescribed the Strattera it was only
thru my doctor after telling him that I believed it was Adult ADHD.
I've made another appointment to go back, but I'm not sure if he would
be able to prescribe meds for both the ADHD and the anxiety. The last thing I want to do is get tied up with a psychiatrist and dig deeper into the issue than I really feel is needed. Just give me something for the anxiety and adhd and let me see how it goes. The side effects are the only things which really concern me after trying the Strattera. |
