SHOULD I CALL DOC TODAY OR WAIT? | ADHD Information

Share

Well, it's been a week today since my dd has went off of stimulants & on to Wellbutrin & the only change I've seen is the anxiety has lessened.  But, everything else is in full power. I need to put mats on my floor & walls to help stop injury from her "bouncing" around.  Plus the not listening, can't sit still!!! All those ADHD traits are in full swing!  That's why I'm wondering if I shouldn't call today because I figure if it's going to work on the ADHD it would have showed "some" lessening at least.  I know it takes a while for Wellbutrin to build up to full effect, I'm on it.  That's why you can't just stop taking it & you need to wean yourself.

I'm thinking an increase in dose might help.  She takes 75mg twice a day & she is like me & metoblizes meds really fast!  (Food too, we're both skin & bones)  I'm on the highest dose of Wellbutrin because of it, the others didn't even touch me.  What's funny though is that different meds will Metabolize different, but 95% go through me like waterfall.

Any advise out there from all you wise, wise posters!!!!

(ALL TROLLS ARE BANNED FROM POSTING ON THIS THREAD)

I'd call anyway, just to check in if you can before the weekend.

I had to laugh in sympathy about putting mats on your floor and walls ... good idea ... this morning my DS was standing there, talking to me, and then suddenly he was completely gone, and landed right on his bottom on the floor.  Didn't put out an arm, a leg, or anything, didn't trip on anything, nothing else was moving.  Just fell down for no reason!

I kid him that he has an "extra-gravity zone" that follows him around.

Wellbutrin takes six weeks to kick in, just like all antidepressants. You can call if you like, but it's really too soon to see results. AD's work a lot differently than stims.Call today.  It can't hurt.  If nothing else it will put your mind to rest.

Well, I called & I'm waiting to hear back.

TillyT I know what you mean by "falling" or "triping" for no reason.  Usually who ever is standing by her gets blamed!  With her everything is always someone elses fault too.  Sometimes we can't help but giggle when something like that happens, my dh & I are "how did you do that?"  Walking into walls is really popular too.    She has so many bruises all the time that you'd would think she was beaten on a daily basis!  Well, now that I think about it, she is, by her own self!!!!  I can't count the times I've told her "look where you going not where you've been"

It's nicer too now that I can see that Adderall XL she was on was making her mean & angery and last night was more proof.  She says to me, Mom, I'm starting to love you again!  Before on the Adderall she'd always have this look of "I want to kill you!!" when she'd get upset about something and I was always her target.

Well, I'll let you guys know what answer I get.

PLEASE, keep us informed. This is very interesting news.    Sometimes the med will only change one or two areas. since the anxiety lessened, it is a success for that. But not anything else.

Maybe the dr will move on to a new trial soon.
BEST OF LUCK

As bugz said, everyone is different, but this aspect is a success. Build on that success, and add more to it, however needs be. I'm on several meds, after 8 years, and coupled with non-meds therapies, am doing pretty darn good for the most part. Just hang in there, don't give up, and keep trying / adding new things / meds / coping mechanisms. Once dialed in, he'll be grateful for a lifetime... Well, on the note from the teacher for the last week (I have teacher do this weekly) she says that dd had a hard time listening most of the time & will ignore adults when they tell her to do something.  She is getting her work done though.  Then she asks.  So, how are the meds working at home?  I laughed!!!  Because that sounds just like her at home too.  I'm just not sure any of these things are going to change in the next 2 weeks.  I think if the med is going to help something it would start showing some signs of dimishining.  Like her anxiety has diminished.  But, I guess I need to wait & see.  Hang in there.

Hello there, sorry I didn't post sooner, but doc office didn't call until I was just walking out the door & I had no time to use a computer all weekend.

Anyway, doc's office says give it another 2-3 weeks first.  Okay!!! I have to say that I have noticed quite a change in her for the good!  It seems like the wellbutrin wears off at around mid afternoon, that's when she all of a sudden gets really hyper, but that's actually starting to get less & less.

The one thing I hate is that she's back to lying again & taking things of other people without asking.   So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this med will work.
