Hi, My daughter is 11 now. She has tried all the stimulants for ADHD, had lots of weight loss but seemed to do well with Ritalin. She was recently diagnosed Bipolar also. Things went nuts when puberty hit about a year ago. She became very anxious, couldn't sleep at night, was sure everyone was out to get her. She couldn't sleep at night because she was sure that someone was going to come through her bedroom (2nd story bedroom) window and take her. Doc said that the Ritalin was making her manic. We took her off the Ritalin and put her on Depakote for the Bipolar. She is sleeping now and much less anxious. But she is now very hyper, impulsive, argumentative, and downright mean sometimes. Doc wants to try Reminyl for the ADHD. Does anyone have any experience with this?
pat70138195.5670138889My son's doc (12 yrs old) tried him on Depakote a few years ago, saying something about him having "bipolar tendencies", though he's never been "officially" dx'd with having it. I can't remember why now we ended up taking him off of it, but we eventually did.
As far as the other one, I've never even heard of that one, keep us all posted on what you learn, ok?
