Daily Ritalin | ADHD Information
Well the doc has decided to try me on ritalin... Thats good... Only thing is because I can't be trusted I have to pick it up daily.... that sucks, whats worse is the fact that to start with I have to pick it up for breakfast and then go back at lunchtime for a second dose
Who doesn't trust you ? Your dr . . . how was this determened ? Find a different dr, that you can trust.I could be totally off base, but pilgrim, I'm assuming that there's drug abuse in rangikahuta's history. They def. won't trust patients w/ stims if this is the case. I've actually never heard of them allowing patients to pick it up daily. Sounds like a good idea to me.....IF they truly have AD/HDDean . . . YOu could be right @ that, we'll have to wait and find out I guess.
Yes theres a history of drug abuse..... would this not be due to add being undiagnosed for many years???? Or at least in part??... Im in my mid 20s.
In New Zealand you either have Ritalin or Dexedrine. It seems where I live there is only the one doctor interested in adult add. It's like being on the methadone program except they've created a special "ritalin program" just for me... There is no guarantee of it ever moving away from this daily pick up regime... It is allowed for if i'm able to get on with my life... but what is the definition of that?
I quit doing a methadone / benzo withdrawal program and went cold turkey because I couldn't be bothered walking to the chemist every day... Now I have to get a bus twice a day to the methadone clinic to get my ritalin... then if it works, go to the chemist everyday to consume a dose and collect a dose. Never heard of the ritalin handcuffs before but it seems if I want to be treated I have to have them slapped on. :(

That's a good Idea to bring it up to the dr., before anything happens . . . then you have some kind of game plan or 'I told you so' to hopefully fall back to if needed. Hang In There ! 
Hi Rangikahuta. I'm about to face the same problem . I could only find one shrink in South Australia willing to deal with adult ADHD and I've already been told I'm going to have trouble with medication as I was addicted to speed for quite a few years. Also a result of not being diagnosed early enough and so self medicated.
Hope it gets better for you. I know how degrading it feels, especially when you've already proven you can kick the habit.
I actually think the idea is silly....
Why? Well once I pick up from the pharmacy I get to take away the lunchtime dose... Whats to say I'm not saving up all the lunch time doses and abusing them or selling them at the end of the week? Weekly would be a reasonable arrangement.... I'm also to be regularly drug tested and if any illicit substances are found it's all off. Does this mean I am unable to take effective painkillers if I have a toothache? Paracetemol on its own just don't cut it, but I won't pass if I take say Pirophen... (paracetemol, aspirin and codeine), What if I have something with psedoephedrine in it for cold or flu relief... Now they just won't believe me if I say I took something legit and it caused a false positive..... I'm not planning on breaking the "rules" or anything but I see certain flaws in the plan... I know theres no point bitching about it here but I pissed off. I'm going to bring these matters up with the doc once we've established if the ritalin is effective or not.
