What are the pro’s and con’s of this med

for and 8 year old child? focalin

Focalin is a refined version of Ritalin that is supposed to cause fewer side effects.  It comes in short-acting, which lasts about 4 hours, and XR, which lasts about 8 hours.  My 12-year-old son has been on it since September and has done very well.  He takes 15 mg Focalin XR in the morning and 5 mg Focalin at 4 pm for homework.

What else do you want to know?

What has your daughter tried already?  How has she reacted?

Hey SM:)

SHE TRIED CONCERTA WHICH MADE HER CRY ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING... THEN SHE ALSO TRIED ADDRALL AND SHE IS HAVING VERY BAD MOOD SWINGS.... SO WE ARE GOING TO START THE NEW MEDS ON MONDAY.

Please, let us know how it comes out. We do need your input.

 Sometimes this takes time.

I did not like Concerta.  It made me feel edgy.  I started Ritalin LA.  Today was my first day and I only took 10mg.  I felt fine.  I'll know more once I take more though!
