Hey guys, thanks for the input. She is very good doctor. She is a brain doctor...neuro? She said I can stop Strattera just like that. For some reason it doesn't require a weening process because it does not behave like a "typical" antidepressant. I did ask the question but she said I can just stop taking it. I think the low does of Ritalin may be because she wants a few days before moving into a higher dose to wait untill the Strattera is out of my system. It should take up to 4 days for Strattera to leave my system. I took 10mg of Ritalin today and so far everything is fine. I honestly don't know if it is working or not. I feel clear headed so that is a plus. I also take 10mg tomorrow. Then 20mg for two days then I go up to 30mg. She has me on hold with 30mg untill I go see her again...in 12 days. She may also have me starting a low dose to see if I experience anxiety. I'm naturally an anxious person but I personally think that is a result of ADHD. I am hoping once the cause is treated the effect (anxiety) will dissapate.
I was on 80mg of Strattera for 6 weeks. I only took 40mg yesterday morning. Then I did not take it last night or today. I don't feel any different. Perhaps the Ritalin is compensating. I have noticed that I'm not "bouncing" my leg but I don't know if it is because of Ritalin. I am on such a low dose.......
David, I assume you like Ritalin LA? I did feel a little fidgity this morning around one hour after I took it. The fidgity has gone away. Oh, I also just noticed I started to bounce my leg! Oh well!
Sparco38678.4474305556Some medications have that slow effect. Yes you should know and realize it, but if your dosage was low you may not have fully realized it. ..Well, I tried Strattera. I went to my Doctor today and we decided that it was time to try something different. I start Ritalin LA tomorrow. Wish me luck! I'm a little nervous because I liked the clear head the Strattera gave me. It didn't seem to do a whole heck of a lot though. It was just a little helpful. I'm not even sure if it was working or if it was me "wishing" it to work. She said I should KNOW that it is working to even bother taking the drug. I start on 10mg tomorrow for two days, then up to 20 for two days then up to 30. I stop at 30 and will see her again in two weeks to decide about future adjustments to the meds. Wish me luck!
Hmmm, is she weaning you off the Strattera?[QUOTE=bugzappers]Why sure this is normal.
Is it supposed to be? I don't know.
I know that without medications we revert to jello, and when the meds are there to help us focus, we are fine.
I am told the reason why is because we have to allow our system more time before we can revert back to pre drug attitude and ambitions.
It is not withdrawl per say, it is more of, the level of chemicals has to build up again since we are using it ALL up with the help of the medications.
That is why we turn to mush. The levels drop and we can function, adrenaline kicks in if needed, but in a reduced capacity, unless we get thrown into an emergency, in which case reflexes take over and ALL chemicals get a sudden boost from the body.
*Thanks I was just curious if i needed to inform the doctor.

Just a HAPPY THANKSGIVING Ritalin LA update!
I took 20mg today for the first time. I managed to clean the entire house this morning. I got the Turkey in the oven. The potatoes for the mashed potatoes have been boiled and the pasta for the mac and cheese is cooked and ready for the prep and bake stage. I also have the turkey "parts" boiling with carrots, onion and celery and some white wine to make the stock for the gravy. I'm ahead of schedule!!
No side effects that are bad from the Ritalin. I actually like the way I feel. I take 20mg for two days then up to 30mg. WOO HOO!
I'm rewarding my early schdule with a Bud Lite. Yum.
Everyone have a lovely holiday! Even you Canadians! I'm actually Canadian, just live in the States. We have 14 people coming over to chow down. Take care all....
My daughter started Ritalin LA 10 MG her teacher says she is doing better in school 1st grade but what I have noticed is she is more hyper-focused. Before meds I have to literally dress her and drag her to the table for breakfast and meds and instead of eating she wants to draw and color (something she never did before). After school wants to write which is also new and when the med wears off it is like she cannot function I have to do a lot for her for she is everywhere totally distracted. Is this usualWhy sure this is normal. With these meds it's all trial and error. Sounds like you found one more suitable for you!
Hope you keep us posted!!
Today I took 30mg of Ritalin LA. (took 10mg two days then 20 mg two days) It's been working well so far. I don't have any side effects. I was nervous about going off of Strattera but now my fears are quelled. My anxiety has been reduced as well...as I suspected...because it was a result of ADHD. I don't have the worry about "jumping" a conversation and interjecting before the person is done speaking. I can calmly listen and respond appropriately. I have been on Kalonapin <sp ck> for a while to help reduce this impulsive way of thinking. I will slowely start weening myself off. I only take .05mg in the morning so it shouldn't be that difficult. Mornings are my biggest challange.
I use to take Concerta and did not like the way it made me feel. I don't know why the Ritalin LA is different but it certianly is. My head does not feel like it is being squeezed.
So far this stuff is good. I like it. I'm only on 30mg but it's making a difference. I see my Doctor next week so I will stay on 30mg till then....Happy RitLA to you, too!DavidO - I don't think the Aussies celebrate the holiday.
They, unlike us North Americans, didn't exploit and destroy the native population - sending them off to die.. oh wait.. never mind.
Well either way the US and Canada are the only ones cocky enough to brag about a group of religious extremists making it through a tough winter due to the native's help - then have the gall to declare extermination on them the following winter.
I am torn on Thanksgiving. It's hard to endorse a holiday based on annihilation of an entire race.
Call me a troublemaker but it's kind of sad don't you think?
