im soooo frustrated/high blood pressure | ADHD Information
I went to the doctor in Sep, got tested for adhd, saw 3 psychologists who agreed I ahave add, She was about to give me adderal, I was soo happy, thinking, finally I will be able to function, from what I read on here, people seem to change for the better, get things done, focus, etc, Except she asked how my blood pressure was, well its high, she took my blood pressure and told me it need to be normal before she can prescribe me anything, I was sooo frustrated, I am 29yo mess, feel sooo way behind because of this thing called add holding me back from going forward, finishing shool, concentrating at work, I dont even have motivation to do things, its sooo complicated to go to the doctor and get refered from one place to the other, anyways im suppose to go get some meds to lower my blood pressure, hopefully that will work, I know i need to loose 20 pounds wich will prob bring my blood pressure back to normal, its sooooo frustrating, Is this happening to anyone out there?? I feel soo helpless, Ive been on my own for 10yrs, struggling with works and bills, so disorganized and behing on everything, my brain is always awake and thinking a million things at the same time, even when i go to sleep I have vivid dreams every night. my scientologist friend wants me to go and do some auditing and he says it will help me and literally cure me, hes soo opposed to me taking the meds, hes very succesfull but you know they are weird, I dont want to get involved in it. I appreciate anyones feed back. Help!
Wow, mine was high also when I first went in to the Dr.s office. I believe it was 152/90. Which is extremely high for me since my avg. is around 107/73.
I told my Dr. that I was under a lot of stress and that I really believed that it would go back down. He retook my BP in the office after telling me to relax and think peaceful thoughts ( yeah, right.. umm somewhere inbetween the lists running in my ahead and all the other stuff , I think there might be a quiet waterfall -- hey maybe that's the white noise I hear when I'm in a fog?)
It went down to 139/85. He didnt like it, but he gave me a perscription for concerta and told me to watch my blood pressure. I also had to return in a month for a BP Check and then we would decide if we would put me on BP meds also.
Well, guess what? I took my BP 3x a day a week before going back, my BP was actually back to normal -- ON A STIMULANT!
I think the anxiety about struggling with ADD, my job, and other things caused the rise in BP. Then when I got the ADD under semi-control, my Pressure went down. Also, the stimulant had a calming effect, which brought my anxiety down. ( I was also diagnosed with and anxiety disorder.)
THis was my experience, maybe ask to see if anxiety plays a role in your blood pressure, if so, the ADD treatment could quite possibly, treat both. Not saying it would, this is just my own experience.. but it might be worth discussing with your Dr. - and see what he thinks.
