I use only debit card and no checks.. then I go look online to check my balance before I go spend.. Twice so far it hasnt worked that well. but, it works better than trying to keep track of a checkbook!!Jes' Curious...
I'm #6.
been there, done that.

I only use checks when there is no other way to transact. Still have multiple NSF charges each month.

Since ADD/ADHD is a disability recognized by the ADA, I wonder if we can get the banks to create a system that isn't so onerous for us. I have been using online banking, but the 2 systems I've tried haven't been beneficial for me. My credit union does not pay bills that corresponds to the days I'm paid-- every 2 Fridays. It only sends out bills "monthly," meaning the same date every month or every 2 weeks. I need it to send out some bills every FOUR weeks. I HATE thinking about money and bills, so the only way for me to pay bills on time is to 1) have direct deposit, and 2) have online bill payment that goes out the day I'm paid, so that the next day, I have a balance that reflects reality. With my credit union's system, I am still forced to constantly check my bills and balances and what not. I can't remember what I'm supposed to pay or when I'm supposed to pay it, even on a good day. This system doesn't help me at all.

Bank of America, I learned the hard way, sends out your bills through online bill payer REGARDLESS OF YOUR BANK BALANCE, which means my bills bounce as if I'd carelessly been writing bills all over town. The bank actually bounces checks on my behalf, then charges me for non-sufficient funds. This is UNCONSCIONABLE-- just bad banking practices.

Needless to say, I'm still looking for a bank that accomodates me, my busy schedule, and my ADD. Citibank at least says that it won't send out checks against a non-sufficient bank balance, so I may be switching banks again-- the 2nd time this year.

taritac38682.9428125Don't have a clue.  Don't keep money in my checkbook.  keep it in the bank.  or in a drawer  or in a basket or on the dresser.   Got money all over the place, why am I so broke?  The bank manager looks at me and says.

 GIMME ALL YOUR MONEY,

AND ALL YOUR EXTRA BLANK CHECKS TOO!

hmm, that sounds like a song.
