Anyone Quit Straterra? | ADHD Information

I stopped Strattera suddenly. I had to because of my heart problems. Honestly, stopping Strattera is much less dramatic than starting it! However, the first day without it there's going to be some mood swings. Try to have a low key day with minimal contact or confrontation. They're not terrible mood swings but you might just snap at people and be grouchy. After that, except for some occassional dizziness I was fine. I've had no problems stopping the medicine.

But be warned- I'm currently trying the diet and exercise thing and it's not working as well as I'd hoped. It helps curb the hyperactivity (I'm exercising five days a week) but not the inattention.

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck and I hope you find a better way to manage your symptoms.

Thanks for the feedback Cheeky.

I am going to wait until I see my shrink next week and talk to him about it.

Gee, sometimes I just wish I could get up and go to work like everyone else without having to worry about all this stuff.

Oh well, it is what it is. I guess we just have to try to make the most of what we  have.

You take care of yourself also Cheeky!

I am considering trying to deal with my condition without drugs. I really cannot use any of the stimulants as I build a tolerance very quickly. I would be beyond the safe dosages in a matter of about 6 months (addictive tendancies).

I have been on Straterra for about 3 months now. It seems to help, but i just feel strange on it. I just do not feel like myself. It is difficult to explain.

So I am thinking about trying to deal with this by way of a very controlled diet, exercise, meditation, and some ADD coping strategies (for organizing, etc.).

My question is, has anyone out there used Straterra for more than a few weeks then stopped? If so, did you go right back on another drug? If not, did you have problems when you quit?

Hi everyone, I had been considering trying Strattera. I am currantly taking adderall and also bild up a tolerance to stims quickly. It still helps, so i think i'll just stick to the adderall. I've heard way to much bad stuff strattera

Yesterday (Saturday) morning I went to the medicine cabinet and decided to not take my Straterra. My wife is out of town for a couple of days, so I figured this would be a good time to freak out if that happened.

I felt good all day! I had a couple of mood swings (listened to a great piece of music and almost started crying). But other than that, I was fine. Today is the same.

I had been starting to have some other problems with Staterra. I had woken up a few times having a sort of panic attack. This has never happened to me except for a couple of times in the past (and drugs were involved both times). So I am sure it was the Straterra as I am not taking anything else. I was also breaking into heavy sweats (in an air-conditioned office). I would get very hot and start sweating, but my nose would be very cold. Sometimes my fingers and toes would be cold also. I felt my heart sometimes beating like I had been running, again while just sitting at a desk.

I will pay very close attention to how I perform at work this week. Hopefully I will be able to stay focused.

Hi Chaz.  I quit Strattera after being on it for 1 month.  I slowly tapered though.  But I was only up to 50 mg a day at that point.  I, too, had heart problems and anxiety issues from it.

I "weened" off of it over a period of 5 days.  Went from 50 (2 - 25 mgs) to 40 to 30 (one 20 and a 10 mg) to 25 then to 20 (2 - 10mgs).  Then done.  Actually, the first day off of it completely I felt great!  But I felt lousy when I was on it so that may be why.
