student off meds

I am in search of assistance in aiding a student (4th grade boy) who was recently taken off of his meds due to "ticks" that were developed. This is the second medication he has been on and both has ended with the development of ticks.

The child is a great kid and of average intellegence. While on meds, he still struggled to stay in control, but he was able to at least minimize his impulses. Now with out the meds, he is not able to do anything. I have tried to say the directions and have him repreat but by the time he goes to complete the task he has already forgotten. The average attention span is 30 seconds.

Someone please help. I am willing to try anything to help this child. Please share suggestions.

Hi,

Just spw your post. My son is 10 with ADD and started having tic's a few months ago. I never saw them but the school vidoe taped them.  My pediatrician refered us to a pedi neurologist. We haven't seen him yet but his nurse said it sounds like Tourettes syndrome. I am used to seeing that on TV with the loud outbursts but it can be mild like tic's.Hope this helps

Hello,

I'm getting ready and and my wits end right now about ADHD meds.  I'm taking my 11 year old off Concerta.  This is his 4th med and all of the meds he has been on have caused ticks.  He never had any of the uncontrollable muscle spasms that he has now.  All of his doctors have told us that they are caused by all the meds.  We researched this and spoke with our pharmacist and he too said ticks are caused by the meds.  My son is very aware of them. They can stop when the medication is lowered or stopped.  Just today my son told me he only had "twitches" in his arm and not his neck.  It breaks my heart to see him twitch and in pain from the constant manipulation of his neck or arms or legs.

Our pediatrician and pharmacist said that the meds ie;concerta, ridalin, strattera, adderral, they can all manifest tourettes.  That was enough to make me start looking into homeopathic methods of treating this illness

What do you think about homeopathic remedies?
