When you first started to take your meds, if one of the side effects were loss of appetite,  did you have to train yourself to eat?

Yes, Ritalin did that for me for the first two months.

I lost 20 lbs. Unfourtunately, it quit doing that and I have regained the weight along with my 'feeding frenzies'.

I weigh 250 lbs. so I was initially delighted and was quite disappointed when my RAVENOUS appetite returned.

Unfortunately, even with increased dosage, this wonderful side effect did not return.

Goober, is your brother's name Gomer?    jk

Seriously, I forget to eat often enough that I get headaches.  Not good!

I forgot to eat today until 3 pm. I was energy poor, and couldn't think straight. Happens all the time. I carry food in the car b/c of that.
Quite Right, Gals.

Me2, on Ritalin.

I'll go simply loopy w/o brain sugar.

Like a concussion, your brain is bran w/o oxygen.

With out sugar, it is Fruit Loopy.

I go through this effect a/b 3 times a week. The rest of the time somewho I remember to eat. I'm still fat.
Your SUCH a Gooberyes, it was like that for me.  Adderal took away my hunger.  I could tell I needed food when I would get really thirsty and water won't quench the thirst.Hey Bee,

What's a Goober?

I took a picture of that flower in your avatar the other day.

I photograph flowers, and forget what I do with them.

Just haven't heard the word GOOBER in a while. I just like the sound of it, it makes me laugh.

A goober is a funny person, like Goober on The old Andy Griffith Show!

ooooo! Now I get it! I'm an agronomist, and have worked in peanuts before. I wasn't sure you didn't mean grounded, or something. Maybe he was a super goober...

First I'll clear up the "goober" thing - it's a peanut!!

And yes - I had to actually remind myself to eat - but that went away in a month and now I eat like a starving man.  My metabolism is high now - so I eat accordingly and my body tells me without a problem.

LOL, you're both right,

goober is both a chocolate covered peanut and a funny person.

My brother has been calling me Goober sine I was about 3 I guess. LOL

So what do you call a chocolate covered funny person?

A goober Goober?

Hey, why did they name Goober Gobber in the Andy Griffith show?

When you first started to take your meds, if one of the side effects were loss of appetite,  did you have to train yourself to eat?

Ok, here's an example.

I had a breakfast bar at 6:45 this morning.  Then at 12:45 I'm in a department store and feel my stomach grumble.  I think, hmmm I don't feel hungry but I'd better eat.  I'm standing in line to check out and all of a sudden start to feel like I was going to pass out and quick.

Good news is I didn't. I grabbed a yogurt and an apple and was better wihin about 20 minutes.

Did anyone else have to make sure you eat regardless if you're hungry or not?

This is my second day on the prescription, I feel so silly, I'm 28 and asking for advise on eating.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions and/or support.

YES !!! sometimes you have to MAKE yourself eat ...I recently started taking Adderall and i have to make myself eat or I will get dizzy and feel faint (usually aroung 12:00)....I don't eat much, but enough to get my blood sugar normalized and tide me over till dinner, then i usually eat a normal, but not too big, dinner.
