metadate update - good news | ADHD Information

Thanks, Kibbles.....I've only had one appointment so far- next is Dec. 22nd.....

20 mg Metadate CD in the morning is my regimen.

I tend to get up around 10 or 11:00 a.m. due to my job hours.  I go to work at 4 p.m. (1600 hours) and work until 2:30 a.m. (0230 hours).  I too, have noticed the extreme sleepy feeling about eight hours after the dose.  I yawn, drink some more coffee (lovingly prepared by my sweet wife and kept hot in a good ol' "Stanley" thermos) and keep swimming until 2:30 a.m quittin' time.....lol

So far I have noticed a slight decrease in sex drive- wife is glad for the slow down.  I used to press for the "One A Day" vitamin agenda.  After 11 years of marriage, we are doing well.

My attention is great!  At work I have had the co workers notice I am quiet...not such a chatterbox... such a difference they are afraid I'm severely ticked.  (Used to be my only quiet moments, apparently).

I think the only thing that may change at next doctor visit is we may change the dosage to before lunch- when my workday officially begins.

wow, fried. what a regimen!!  Yep, I think changing your dose is a good idea, I'll bet your Doc will OK it

Glad to hear that others are doing great on this too

Well, I have whined and complained about my own roller coaster ride with meds so I thought I would post something positive

Went to the Dr. last week and we have upped my second dose of metadate CD from 10mgs. to 20mgs.

I now take it 20mg in the am and 20mgs at lunch... WOW what a difference!!

My complaint before was that the med wore off really early and I was yawning like crazy every day by 5:30.  NOW, I can go all the way to 8:00!!! I cant believe that 10mgs can make such a huge difference!  There is NO daydreaming (unless I want to), there is not excess energy, hyperness, or any feeling of not being "normal" -- I was worried about being "zombified" but nope, no difference - I only know Ive taken it when it starts to wear off.

The only difference is that now I do get a bit of rebound -- I yawn a lot, I daydream so badly that at times it is a real concerted effort to break out of it. BUT it is also 8:00 at night.. so its ok to do that

Just wanted to finally share when things start to work

By the way, Thanks GLen for encouraging me to go back and discuss the duration of effectiveness with my Dr.

He gave me the choice of trying the short acting or an additional 10mgs.  I threw it back to him and told him, he had  more experience with this than I did.. so we did the increase..  Looks like we made the right decision!

I may not have gone back to talk about it with him had you not suggested it
