First ADHD PatchWould have thought they'd develope a liquid version before a patch for kids. I can see the kid's picking at the patch all day. Seems like a bad idea for fidgety kids or kids with sensory problems but who knows it could wind up being great. Would at least stop complaints about the meds tasting bad. ![]() http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/dec/03/fda_advisers_say_fi rst_adhd_patch_safe/?health http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory?id=1368070 Very interesting, it seems that it is for children that have problems taking pills. The FDA has already denied the patch, first called Methylpatch and now called Daytrana, once before. They say it has greater liability for side effects without increased efficacy. The only real advantage I can see with it would be the ability to wear it as long during the day as you need it and then remove it when you don't so you don't disturb sleep. Thanks for posting the new articles. The patch may be a good alternative for my ds, age 17, who has difficulty remembering to take his meds. His doctor has suggested that it might even be possible to adjust the dosage of the patch by cutting it to the right dose for the patient. He also mentioned one user that forgot to take it off at night and woke up the next morning with the effectiveness of Ritalin still working. I think it is supposed to be removed at least three hours before bedtime. |
