Do you have a magic time? | ADHD Information

I do, and it's 4am.  EVERY morning since I started adderall a week ago, I'm up at 4am. sometimes I'm lucky enough to get back to sleep, sometimes I have to get up, get a snack and surf the net or write a letter for 30-60 min before I'm ready to try sleep again.

Who can relate?

I think I've read of other people in your situation.. For some reason, on meds or not, I totally shut down around 9:30, and I pop right up by 5:30am.

Many suffer from insomnia when meds are started. Maybe this is just a small bit of that and will most likely correct itself once your body is used to the medicine.

In my case, it actually took about 3 weeks for everything to even out side affect wise..

Thanks Sherry, i think I can already feel my appetite coming back which is a good thing. I liked the idea of weight loss (what woman doesn't ) but it was actually stressful in a way, not eating right. I had a breakfast after taking my pill and I feel very content and comfortable.

So, if that's leveling out, maybe my sleep will also.

Plus, maybe it's the meds or maybe it's the disrupted sleep, but I'm sleepy throughout the day and I thought it was supposed to give you energy.

yeah, I get sleepy during the day also.  its a really wierd feeling to be alert and sleepy at the same time, isnt it?

Just like anyone else, meds or not, if we don't get that good nights sleep, we are not 100% the next day. Hope your sleep issue levels out soon

Sherry

I think the problem I have is I have no magic time.  My sleep pattern is so random before and after meds.  I may sleep 4 hours one night, 10 hours the next.
Night before last when I slept 10 hours I did not take any ambien either, just my regular Adderall & Wellbutrin.  I may wake up at 5 or it may be 9. Haven't figured out a pattern yet - maybe I don't have one.

Where can I apply for a Magic Time?  Think I want one.
Sounds very intreging!

Countrygirl, that magic time happens when our own natural biological clock kicks in.

If you set yourself a bedtime, and ALLWAYS go to bed at that time, you will find yourself sleeping the same amount of hours each night.  I think that's why I have such a "on the dot" internal clock. I have been going to bed at 9:30 since I was 8 years old!!

Now us ADDers might think ok, gonna try it, then we try for a week, and it doesnt work!!  I think it takes at least 6 for that internal clock to kick in.

when I change that bedtime on the weekends, I still wake up at 5:30am, but during long vacations, I can actually sleep in til 7am.  That little clock inside each of us can be quite demanding... I would LOVE to be able to sleep til noon one day! LOL

Off topic: how did you like that ice storm??  I have a skylight and it was raining in the kitchen thursday night!! You would think I'd be mad, but I was spinning around and dancing and laughing with my kids getting wet  Sometimes ADD is a nice thing...

Sherry

Guess I have no internal clock.   Oh, well - Yes the ice storm -

The good part was - I didn't have to go to work because the schools were closed.

The bad part was - Someone slid into an electric pole and we were home, but without electricity for about 5-6 hours.  Sure got cold during that time too!

Freezing today but back up to upper 60's by end of week.  Yep, this is Texas.  If ya don't like the weather wait a minute.

Im a definate night owl too. I prefer the night, that's when I feel most alive I suppose.

I only sleep four hours a night, any more a I'm cranky as hell the next day

I used to work at night and sleep during the day. That really messes up any body clock!!!

Sometimes I stay up until 4 a.m. ...but I don't get up at that time...my majic time is staying up and feeling like I am the only person awake...Hey, CC. I am. I've been here when no one else was. West Coast. I've been here when England wakes up, and I haven't gone to bed yet! heheh...

Magic time? Night.

Unmajic time: mornings. My only 'D' ever was an 08:00 class. Missed over 60 % of the classes...
