I think it's because there's so much to focus on and so much to distract you. You have (at times) multiple conversations going on at once and anything like a shout or a loud laugh can distract you easily. Social situations make me very self-conscious because I've been so unsuccessful socially in childhood and adolescence. I'm sure some of it's insecurity too.

I tend to have very little focus in social situations. Why does the mere presence of another person screw up my focus?
Anyone else?
I dont have many friends at all - mostly because I hate listening. I want to do the talking. I find most people sooooo boring. No body seems to have any depth and I find I tend to be a bit sarcastic and cruel regarding, what I feel, their trivial problems. I think to myself - you think that is a problem - geez how would you cope with my life.
