Went to IKEA | ADHD Information

Share
They just opened one about 20 miles from me last month. I haven't been there yet though.

I went to IKEA, bought stuff and put it together MYSELF!!!!! A milestone for me the ADHD girl!!!!!

We went to the one outside of Pittsburg two weeks ago, on the way home we broke the mirror my daughter bought  . . .   Hope it's not to late to order one on the internet for her.   This place was huge, I'm guessin' 250,000-300,000 Sq. Ft.  Nobody I asked that worked there knew how many it was, but they all said it was the Smallest one !

It does orginate from Sweden . . .I think IKEA translates into: Store Of Much Furniture[each letter of IKEA stands for a word].

I live in Houston and I think it really origniates in Sweeden....Houston is about as South as you can get without going to Mexico....

I needed something for my office at home to organize myself...I wanted a desk large enough for my computer printer and a writing/work space...I also wanted something with cubbys...I bought this cube thing that holds 16 baskets..for all of my projects that are going on at once and I ended up buying a 96" long dining table to use as a desk...very unconventional but cool...I could not believe I put it together myself...that stuff can be really complicated the unit is square with the square 16 cubbies...that I thought would be hard to level...but it went so well...I followed instructions....(all in pictures with this funny little man)...and it went together perfectly...then I bought these baskets from there that fit perfectly in the little cubbies...I LOVE IT!!!

The one here is a new one...and it is the SUPER IKEA....it is really modern stuff...almost all of my home is traditional and antiques....English and French influence....tons of Brittish plates and my family crest, engravings hanging around...ho hummmmmmmm....then there is IKEA it is my rebellian to all the serious stuff that links my family to 700 years ago....it is totally a cheap, well made, functional example of why not to lug a 800 lb piece of 10 foot furniture around just because it came from a castle.....I LOVE IT!!!!Oh yes it is, IKEA have very good quality.

In Sweden we have one of the biggest IKEA-store and I love to walk around there but i always buy to much :-)

/Kaks
Is it well made and good qualty woods?I always thinks it's funny that something from Sweden reaches the rest of the world, after all, we are a small country.

IKEA stands for "Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd"

Ingvar Kamprad is the founder of IKEA (in 1943) and Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd are two places where he grew up. This was in southern Sweden and Ingvar Kamprad is still alive today.

I know, unnecessary knowing but.... :-)
