Can caffeine help enhance adderall | ADHD Information
Hi Jimmy,Welcome here. Depends on your personal brain. If you haven't reached the max effect dose with Adderall, then maybe caffeine will add to it's beneficial effect. If you are at or near your max effective dose with adderall, then it may push you over the edge, and you'll begin to see the 'speedy' side effects that non-ADHDers have on stimulants.
Both can cause hypertension, so watch your bp, as well.
If you're thinking clearly, then I'd stick to where you're at right now, and don't adjust anything. Ask your doc, too.

OK, thanks alot for the advice guys. Adderall really slows me down alot, almost to much. Then I drink coffee and feel like it gives me some pep. But if I do like the other day, drink a lot of coffee and not eat, coffee keeps me from being to hungry, and do this all day it get very dizzy! So do everything in moderation.
I feel the stimulation from Adderall is very different than coffee and effects me different. Very strange I know. My dosage is really low 2 10mg a day.Does the same happen with Ritalin LA and coffee....ie, it not absorbing into the system as well?? I drink coffee right after taking my Ritalin.I think you should take your pills first with a lot of water, 8oz or more and wait about a half hour. This helps to absorb in your body then you can drink coffee. Someone at GNC said always take vitamins first and wait a half hour then you can drink coffee. Coffee is a diuretic (sp?) and you can pee it all out. So that's how it take vitamins and drugs. Always hated drinking water in the morning, yuck! I agree with Davie. Ultimately, it tends to be kind of a wash. If you are on moderate doses of both, then they can enhance each other. Once you go over the edge, however, the result will likely be overstimulation, anxiety, and increased inhibition. Not positive effects, all in all. Plus, it depends on what kind of drink you consume. Coffee, for example, is highly acidic. Anything acidic taken close to the time adderall is taken will reduce it's bioavailability, so you excrete more of it in the urine and absorb less of the dose. I'd say take the Adderall, wait a solid hour before taking any food or drink, and then have breakfast and a cup of coffee or whatever. Adderall really works best if taken on an empty stomach without anything acidic.

This is kinda funny but true - my job is typing and editing doctor's reports, and one of my docs works with kids with ADHD...one patient's mom told the doc she finds M&Ms very helpful in enhancing her child's ADHD meds and helping him when the meds start to wear off. I read that coffee increases the ability to concentrate along with improving short term memory. I was wondering if the effects of adderall could be enhanced by drinking a caffinated drink in the morning such as coffee or some sort of energy drink with my daily dose of Adderall.

I was diagnosed with having ADD 6 months ago and and have been prescribed both Concerta and Strattera in the past.
Only four different drugs in 6 months? Maybe this doctor isn't so good after all.
And up until two weeks ago I was diagnosed with having depression and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and was prescribed Lexapro. First I was prescribed Concerta but it caused me intense anxiety and I stopped taking it after about 1 month. My doc then put me on Strattera which did absolutly nothing for me. And after being on Strattera for 4 months and having no success my doctor put me on Adderall. Ever since taking adderall I have the ability to concentrate, feel motivated, and all my thoughts are unbelievably clear. It is absolutly amazing, I have never felt so good in my life.

Well, of course, taking speed on top of speed can help to boost the high a lot. But why coffee? Why not cocaine or some amphetamines?
