side effects? | ADHD Information
Here's a couple of questions, kristin, do you eat after taking meds? It's very important to eat even when you don't feel like it, do you drink coffee or any caffinated drinks like soda? This can cause your heart rate to jump up really high. Do you drink a lot of water? That's imortant too. it says on my bottle of pills to drink at least 8oz. with it.
Sometimes the dosage is too much at once will have bad effects especially if your very sensitive. Maybe start at a lower level. I've experinced all the things you have. I take 2 10mg and that's enough for me!It takes awhile to get used to it, good luck!
I haven't ever had any abnormal anxiety problems in the past, which is
why it freaked me out. i have no idea what my blood pressure was
yesterday.. but i seemed to have calmed down when i woke up today.
i just wanted to make sure i figured out what i did to trigger it, so i could
avoid it. it is so hard to find people with adhd (i have a group session
every other week) who will talk about any medication problems.. out of
fear they will be taken off of them. especially at a big university, since
they are so reluctant to put anyone on medication, people fear that if they
have to switch or something they will just be told no.
Hi... i have never posted before so i will start this question out with a little
info.. which hopefully won't bore you all too much...
My name is kristin, and i am in my second year of law school. this
summer, after my first year, i was diagnosed adhd. since august i have
been taking adderall. i am currently taking 30 mg. xr in the mornings. on
days when i have "long days," say class at 9 am and 7 pm, i take a 10 mg
"booster" as the doctor calls it in the afternoon of regular adderall. when i
was diagnosed, i was told to make no mistake, that this was not a
borderline case.. and there was no doubt about my diagnosis.
anyway... this is my first exam period on adderall. law school exams.. if
you have never had the joy of knowing someone going through them, are
an extremely stressful and competative experience, we are ranked against
each other... so suddenly no one is your friend (alright alright, most
people have someone, but you get the idea) usually i only take the
booster 2-3 nights a week, but before exams i talked to the doctor, and
he said that it would be better just to take them through exams, to help
keep me on task and keep my stress level down.
so for the past three days i have taken them. last night i probably slept 4
hours, the other nights maybe 6 or 8. this morning, my pulse rate was
very high and my stomach felt sick. i called the doctor, he said that the
combination of the adderall, the stress and the anxiety about the test
most likly caused the elevated heart rate. he said not to take any more
adderall today, and pick up with just the xr tomorrow. he said that my
pulse rate was not fast enough to come in, but just to watch it and it
should come down.
am i just overreacting? should i worry about it? has anyone else
experienced this?
thanks!Hey kiteflyer,
What was your bp? I'd be more concerned a/b that, than a pulse change.
Did you ever get these symptoms during your exam periods, b4 you
started Adderall, like in your first year?
I've found that head meds (including anti-D's) work great during normal
periods of life. Add a stressful event, and my normal dosage doesn't
seem to handle the extra stress. So, I double my meds during such
periods. Of course, I'm not a doctor, and as you're a lawyer, I'll deny
everything.
Best wishes,
