bman -
Sounds like it wasn't the adderall causing you side effects. The lonliness, lack of initiative for things you used to like, etc. are normal. I found that after a year of taking dexedrine that I no longer feel the love of things that used to make me feel good. My motives are changed - the meds have moved me in directions that are sometimes surprising and sometimes disappointing but it's more change of desire than anything.
Since it sounds like you are going to try other avenues lately let's work on that. Adderall stays in your body a very short time. So don't worry too much about withdrawl there may be a psychological withdrawl but at the level of meds you take it won't be an issue I'm sure. Usually they half the dose every week or so and it's not a very harsh drop for your system. You can have some black tea or coffee to supplement your stimulation and make it easier to you.
Now antidepressants? They need to be dropped gently. They can cause seratonin syndrome and that's dangerous. So make sure you follow MD's directions on them to the letter!
Good luck ! Make sure you stick around here you have always been a good person on the forum and that won't change and we'll help where we can for ya!
wow, Thanks for the help guys.....
See this is the problem, I have been on AT LEAST 30 mgXR... I was currently on 45xr about 2 months. I became tolerant to 30 - so i was on the 45. But now this doc (who didnt perscribe it to me in the first place) is taking me off in 2 weeks! 15mg REGULAR RELEASE at that!... he wants 15 for this week.... 15 every other day for the next week and thats it!
But, WAIT! what about my AdHd???? This is why i was perscribed adderall in the first place. Im with you GLenW ... I think i was depressed and the adderall actually helped, but when it wore off i wanted to go home to mommy and daddy lol you know?
bman3038702.6520138889You're on 30mg, right bman? Since you've only been taking it for about a year, and if you're on 30mg, 2 weeks should be plenty of time. One week of 20mg, one week of 10mg, then you're good to go. I think you should go by how you feel, bman, if you stop suddenly and start to feel sick and dizzy that's very dangerous. But don't know if Adderall does that. I've missed my Celexa, for depression, and God! Felt like the whole room was spinning! But according to some Dr. that shouldn't happen, yea okay! Dr.s don't know it all!I have a tough situation here. I have been on Adderall for a year now. Lately ,I have had many side effects, or at least thought i had side effects due to adderall. Everything was great until College started. I had a little homesickness, dont have sports (which i played every season of every year since i was old enough to walk.) Felt lonely etc....
So this being said, regardless of the situation. Im going to get off of adderall (at least for a while - Ive built a strong tolerance.). The Problem is, One docter was going to wean me off of adderall in a matter of 3 months. Now On the other hand, My other doctor who my mom wanted a second opinion from, is doing it in a matter of 2 weeks! This doctor is more Pro life type who I feel doesnt believe in add and adhd types of things. He said, "I was just different", that s it. Hes more of the treat, Cure and live normal type. I have been taking lexepro for about 1.5 weeks and just now is seeming to work??? My mom is all for the doctor (the two week ones) descision, and although im 18 and its my choice- its really still hers- I dont have money. Any Advice? I KNOW im going to be a train wreck weaning off this fast.???
I'd want the meds weaned the slowest if you've been on them for so long, just to make sure. As for Lexapro, all antidepressants take six-eight weeks to kick in so you shouldn't be feeling much yet. Sounds like you're being treated for depression now. If the Lexapro kicks in maybe the withdrawals to Adderrall won't be so bad. What types of doctors do you see? You ARE old enough to make your own decisions Does the college have a psych clinic? I wish you lots of luck, Sweetie. I hope you get helpful posts. psm090438701.7105324074
