Is it easier as a BLONDE? | ADHD Information

I do believe being the funny one helps take some pressure off. Although here is the down side to being blonde -- a late diagnosis. I'm sure if everyone would had looked at me as exhibiting symptoms instead of being an airhead they or I may have realized along time ago I was ADD.

Hmm, well if I wasn't an blonde ADDer perhaps I'd have a witty comeback for that one!!---------Actually I probably do have more FUN if I could only stay focused on it!  Thanks for the positive words though BDLB!
I would say yes it's easier..........maybe.  Or it just seems that way.  I have often times used being blonde as an excuse for doing stupid things.  Being blonde isn't an excuse for major mess ups, but it has come in handy for those ADD moments as someone put it.  So does being the "class clown"  on that note, had anyone used being a goof ball, class clown, jokster type to cover up their ADDness?  Seems people have always expected a little less seriousness from me because I'm "silly"

Hmmm....I wouldn't say easier but I do use it as a joke sometimes when I'm embarrassed about something I did.  I don't like it so much when people say it to me though.  My MIL is also a blonde and she says something like "I may be a blonde but my roots are dark" meaning she is still pretty smart, blonde or not.

No, because most people don't really assume that blondes are ditzy or at least I hope not.  But I see what you're saying.

A few years ago I dyed my hair a darker blonde and I did something ADHDish at work and this teacher I work with said in front of some other people, "Lisa, you need to dye your hair back to blonde"  She laughed, I didn't.

I guess it can distract the ignorant from wondering why else we do some of the absent minded things we do.

On the plus side when I have my moments of brilliance it shows those same ignorant people how intelligent blondes can be. .

(I usually wear these very dark maroon nerdy looking glasses to help make me look smarter.)

I have just been pondering...

Is it easier being ADD when your blonde?

I feel like maybe I have had an easier time because alot of what I do can be dismissed as a "blonde moment".

Forget something, say something stupid, walk into a wall etc..."blonde moment"!

Whatcha think?

BD - Is what me???

Maybe if I go get some Clairol Maximum Blonde (not that I use that or anything) and show my husband my boobs I will stun him into ignoring my ADD.  It's so crazy it might even work! (Actually, it probably would for short periods of time).

No, I know you were joking (sort of) and I'm not really offended (sort of).  Let's be friends.

P.S. Thanks bepatient.  I have those glasses, too!

Me too sassee .  I don't want a guy to want me just b/c I'm hot and bonde. I want the whole of who I am to be wanted.  Otherwise what am I? A damn Barbie?

Sorry BDLB, maybe I'm a bit too sensitive..I'll just keep wearing my nerdy glasses.

I became the class smart-aleck  in high school, to cover up some pretty silly comments and questions.  Made my life rough after getting used to all the attention, now I seem to crave it, and go out of my way to recreate it at times.

I'm a brunette.... and people used to always tell me I acted blonde...in fact, people who knew me before they saw me always thought I was blonde (friends of friends).

I've had a few people convinced I dyed my hair brown (which it's so obviously not), LoL.

So the dumb blonde opinions are still out there, but I've always been a lot more blonde acting than my blonde friends.... But I'm just ditzy at times, so *shrug*  LoL (I try to laugh about it.)
LOL oh shush .. I'll find the info. you may not believe it but it's still an interesting perspective. Well I remember reading somewhere (I'll dig it out) that blondes have a higher chance of being ADD/ADHD because of the metals their hair naturally gives off. I'll see if I can find that info.
blondes have a higher chance of being ADD/ADHD because of the metals their hair naturally gives off.
That's the best laugh I've had all day! Thanks, INaBOX.

Some things about being blonde make life easier: Could always go out with anyone I wanted just by smiling at them;  Men always want to help me with just about anything wherever I am; some people automatically assume you're not very intelligent so if you do mess up it's no suprise.

How it makes life harder: Not being taken seriously at times, not looking capable (to some), sometimes having to prove yourself more.

Overall, I'm glad I'm a blonde (and I'll keep it that way)I get a lot of looks and a lot of special treatment almost everywhere I go. It's good for the self esteem (even though I know it's only superficial). And when people do see my intelligence... well there you go....the total package.

 YOU GO GIRL!!
