How do you know when the meds are right? | ADHD Information

It isn't unusual to find certain drugs give you specific benefits like that.  Many find with Ritalin that they get excellent focus but feel run down - unless they are a capital H hyper ADHD.  You are most likely inattentive ADHD like most adult males/females and Ritalin isn't for all of us.

Some people take a combo of ritalin and adderall now.  It's been seen to work for some who are borderline and need the combined energy and focus that they give.  It's not unusual at all!

There's also dexedrine sulphate spansules to try.  I take them and have for a year.  I get excellent focus and extra energy.  I have been able to stay at 20mg dosage for the year and work awesomely!

Just keep requesting different combos until you find what works best.  Once you do - you might just have to up it after a month or so if it begins to fade.  It happens a lot and is expected that you may have to tweak the med dosage once the combo is right.

Good luck!

I was on Ritalin LA for a couple of months- was up to 40mg. I had the "Oh Wow" discovery, but after awhile I noticed that even though my focus was wonderful, I was tired all the time, had occasional heart palp., and overall felt fuzzy most of the time.

I switched doctors and right away she Poo-pooed the first doctor. I'm a 45 yr old adult. She said I should never have started on Ritalin - that I should have tried Welbutran first. But since I was already on a stimulant, she switched me to Adderall. I am currently taking 30mg Adderall (not XR).

I have way more energy, and I'm getting lots done, but I still find myself starting things, but get distracted and start something else before finishing anything. I like the way I feel on Adderall. I'm much more clear headed, and the whole experience feels "cleaner" and more normal.  However, I miss the great focus I had before with Ritalin.

Is it unusual to like components of different drugs? Should I ask my doctor about mixing the two? (lower doeses of each or something?) When I told her my focus wasn't as good on Adderall, she told me I needed to up the dosage. Which I guess I understand, but even at the higher dosage, my focus isn't has good as it was with Ritalin. So maybe my dosage is still too low.

Any advice/comments??????

Thanks Glen & Imac. Just like everyone else, I'll keep at it till I get it.

It's nice to know we are all in the same boat. (and even though it leaks, it's not sinking!)
