Wellbutrin xl and sleep | ADHD Information
Do check with your doctor about this.
Been on Wellbutrin XL 300mgs for a little over a month. Right away I noticed that I get about half the sleep I used to get.
I take my dose at six am. All day I have full energy. But a "good" sleep will consist of about four hours of sleep. some nights are less. But even though I have been running on this amount of sleep, I still am not tired throughout the day.
At first I was waiting for my body to crash but it has not.
Has anyone else seen this, and is has it caused issues long term (memory becoming worse, feeling more scattered due to lack of sleep)
also has anyone taken it at night? I am wondering if that will help with the sleep issue
Hey melenrind,
It's all dependent on an individual's biochemistry.
Every one is soooo different, an easy answer to your question isn't attainable.
However,
some generalizations can be made. WB is a fast acting, fast
metabolizing med. They had to formulate it in an XL formula which slows
the release of the active ingredient in order to stretch a one dose
effect. For most people, WB is a stimulant, although it is not FDA
classified as that, and it is registered as an anti-depressant. It is
considered a second line treatment for ADHD, although it seems to have
beneficial effect for a lot of ADHDers. It is often co-prescribed with
front line med choices, such as stimulants.
Ask your doctor, as that's the best thing to do.
I sleep very little, too, with or without meds. So doc prescribes a
sleep aid, and now I get a/b an average of 6 hours per night.
Best wishes, and welcome to the forums.
