My daughter has had the same response! The mood swings were awful! She would turn into the devil and make horrible noises and faces. It was like our little girl just vanished. After her fit then she would cry for me to hold her and sing to her and she would tell me she was sorry and that she didn'[t know why she was so upset. The bad part was anything would set her off, so I didn't know what to do to stop it. I noticed this and brought it to our doctors attention, but our doctor just told me she needed more. That obviously was not the case. I took her off a week ago because of her mood swings and body tremors.
My daughter was diagnosed 7 months ago and started on 5mg. She is only 4 yrs old and was up to 20mg adderall and 40mg Stratera. She has broke all of the knobs off our bedroom doors. Kicks and hits the walls and constantly is bothering our cat and her 12 year old brother. I can't leave her alone with younger children because I am afraid that she may hurt them. She was pretty hyper, impulsive, over active and very loud , but has increasingly gotten worse on the meds. Now that she is off the adderall she is a different child altoghther. She is so loving now and hasn't had a fit since I took her off. I know that it probably will be short lived, but I am going to enjoy it while I got it.
I am pretty new to all of this also. I would stay in constant contact with your doctor. If you do not feel comfortable get a second opinion. I am, and we have been with our doctor for over 8 years. Good luck! I know what you are going through!
My son is six and was diagnosed with ADHD about a month ago. His Dr. perscribed 5mg of Adderallxr. I gave this to him for about 2 weeks and it did nothing to help him at all. The Dr. decided to up the dose to 10 and see how that goes.My problem is that now instead of just being hyperactive , impulsive and unable to pay attention , he is now aggressive and moody. I don't mean just a little moody. The littlest thing sets him into a fit of rage. When I can finally calm him down he is crying and saying how sorry he is and how he loves me so much etc.. my question is have I given the medicine a long enough chance to try and work? Will these side effects go away, or do I tell his dr. and not give it to him anymore. This is the first med. we have tried and I am ready to just quit.I have read other post of people taking much higher doses of this medicine so I don't understand why such a small dose would cause the reaction he is having. (He is only 6 but is 92lbs and 52" tall). Also the strongest mood swings seem to be at about 5 hours into the day.
