Awwww - Bogus you poor thing! Did the poor man with ADHD hurt your widdle feelings getting you kicked off last time?!?

Well go back to mommy where it's safe and you can get to hear stories about how you know everything (God told you - come on admit it!) and that the world will be much safer if you climb that tower with your scope and.. oops no that you will make all with ADHD feel so tewwible.

You'll be gone again as soon as admin peeks in here.  And we'll boot you again.  And again.

Mommy still loves you - doesn't she mr. Bates?

Is the troll saying that ADHD doesn't exist?  I GREATLY BEG TO DIFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bman -

That's too bad that you went beyond the theraputic usage and became dependent on them.
Uh Oh BMan, you have offended one of the head drug salesman -- I mean potato chip packers (Glen likes to be considered a potato chip packer). He gets very upset when people point out the addictive side of Adderall, Ritalin, or any of the ADHD medications. Newbie or no, he will strike to kill if you suggest that Ritalin or any other ADHD drug has not cured old age!

bman -

That's too bad that you went beyond the theraputic usage and became dependent on them.  But have no fear - the effects are short lasting and you'd have a harder time with withdrawl on cigarettes than with adderall.

The meds flush out of the system fast.  What you will be dealing with is not the physical withdrawl - which is mild to none with adderall - but the psychological withdrawl as you have become used to the feelings that the meds give you and that will take some time.

Just take it one day at a time - and a month would be probably sufficient as you should treat this as fast as you can - the longer you drag it out the harder it will become.

And ignore the trolls.  They have no clue.

ok quit the argueing, i just need advice from someone who BELIEVES IN ADHD!

it's okay bman - I BELIEVE!!!!

Did you know that every time someone here says "I BELIEVE" - Tinkertroll dies a little? It's a fact!  So come on boys and girls - say it and mean it!! I BELIEVE!! I BELIEVE!! Tinkertroll still gets some life by going back to the Pat Robertson school of manners - but we can make it die for good!!

Come on folks - don't we all wanna see Tinkertroll die?? Really?

bman, could you ask your doctor to take you off slower. Adderall is habit forming and can cause a need for more and withdrawal and its no laughing matter for you.

Adderall is habit forming. Physical and psychological dependence may occur with the use of this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.

Have you been a withdrawal help forum where people know withdrawal exists. Maybe try medhelp, they have lots of withdrawal messages for drugs and I found a thread here about adderall which may help. There might be more.

bman more for you, this should be more help than the last one.  Go to the dexedrine -adderall- place below and show your parents so they read and understand what you may be going through.  Tell your doctor that you are having a problem at the speed he is taking you off and please can he go slower. For anyone having withdrawal symptoms it is much safer for the long term to go slower coming off than it is to rush and get into post withdrawal problems which sometimes can be quite serious.  (Read all the page not just this part.)  You might also find a number of places to go for help and support while you need it.

Treatment:
Long term Dexedrine users should taper off the medication slowly under a knowledgeable physician’s care, or, enter a detox center for 24/7 treatment. With a moderate to severe addiction from relatively long term use, an in patient detox in a hospital or medical supervised setting is highly recommended for its multi- disciplinary approach. Dependence resulting from even a few weeks of regular use can usually be handled under a physician’s supervision with minimal discomfort. Treatment will ultimately depend on the degree of addiction.

However a person chooses to free themselves from the clutches of a drug, there is one constant each needs: Support. Narcotics Anonymous remains a successful choice for many addicts, with world-wide availability. The "information age" has produced numerous on line support forums, popular with many recovering addicts, useful to some addicts as their sole means of support and for others, as adjunct therapy. Drug addiction is treatable, with help out there for everyone.

just curious....if adderall was working so well for you, why so you want off of it?  Otherwise, very nicely put. The above poster does not believe in ADHD.

Bman, I'm afraid both doctors are right. Adderall is a highly addictive drug, and so yes you have developed a physical dependency. It is always uncomfortable to wean off of a physical dependency. The question is how long do you want to prolong the discomfort? The three week solution will shorten the duration of the uncomfortable period, but increase the level of discomfort. The longer period will reduce the discomfort but prolong it. It's up to you which direction you would prefer to take.

Congratulations on the decision to leave the drugs behind! Whichever route you choose, you have made the right choice.

Best of luck to you.

This is my letter to my doctors... any advice??
